The male protagonist Li Huaiping and the heroine Nan Shan met in the park's early reading, the two were reckless, ignorant, and secretly in love between the conversations, it was for the spring; Li Huaiping led the Red Guards to break the Nanshan family at night, and the night trial of Nanshan's grandfather, the former Kuomintang surrender general Chu Xuanwu, crazy and fierce, was for Xia; Li Huaiping met the Nanshan family at the station, listened to Chu Xuanwu's pure and upright instructions, deeply felt what he had done before, felt that the Nanshan family had encountered, the atmosphere was cold, it was for winter; a few years later, the male and female protagonists who entered middle age met in Taishan. After watching the scenery, they spit out their true feelings to each other and realize the true meaning of the philosophy of life, which is for autumn.
The novel has many classic sentences and is very philosophical to read

About the happiness and pain of life. "An otherworldly, tired man, he has no pain and no happiness. And a person who is satisfied with facts will also be silent in eternal happiness. Only the causal cycle of pain and happiness creates a rich life."
The novel begins with the "civilization and barbarism" debate of the hero and heroine, and ends with the "civilization and barbarism" debate of the subsequent Taishan international tourists. As the protagonist's experience becomes richer, the concept between the two becomes more and more blurred, and like the encounter of the hero and heroine of the novel, the discussion becomes a wordless ending.
