The Municipal Education Bureau (DOE) announced the specific date arrangement of the Special High School Entrance Examination (SHSAT) for the 2021-2022 academic year on the 13th, and students must register for the exam on November 15 at the latest, and students in grade 8 in public schools will accept the exam on December 2.
The Municipal Education Bureau said all students in Grade 8 and First Grade 9 living in New York City can enroll in the Special High School Entrance Exam for the 2021-2022 school year by Nov. 15. Students can visit the website: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/enroll-grade-by-grade/specialized-high-schools learn more and take a mock quiz.
Students will receive a welcome letter for high school applications in mid-October, providing details on how to use the MySchools.nyc account and participate in the enrollment process. Once the letter has been issued, students can also request a printed copy from the school counsellor or from the Family Welcome Centre.
Registration for the Special High School Entrance Examination will begin in mid-October after the welcome letter is issued, with a deadline of November 15. At the time of registration, students are required to indicate which special high school they wish to apply to and rank the order of volunteering.
Year 8 students enrolled in the Special High School Entrance Examination will take the Exam at their school on December 2, while Grade 8 students who have registered for the Special High School Entrance Exam, private schools, church schools, or independent schools, or Home School students, and Grade 9 students who have enrolled in the Special High School Entrance Exam, On December 5 or December 11, the exam will be taken at the place specified by the Municipal Education Bureau.
The Special High School Entrance Exam is divided into two parts: Math and English Language Arts. Mock quiz questions and answers can be found on the website of the Municipal Education Bureau: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learning/testing/specialized-high-school-admissions-test/#BeforeTheTest. At the time of the official exam, candidates have 180 minutes of exam time, and qualified English Learners (ELL) receive 360 minutes of exam time.
