The short film "The Next Floor" won the CANAL+ TV Award in the Film Critics Week section of the 61st Cannes Film Festival in 2019 and the Special Jury Prize at the 33rd Toronto International Television Festival. The bald foreman immediately turned to the microphone and issued a command: Next floor.
These service personnel calmly moved to the next floor, bright crystal chandelier slowly through the collapsed floor, the camera switched to a noblewoman's hand, which was covered with more white dust, as she looked up, it seemed to find that many layers had fallen, and the waiter was performing his duties mechanically, some guests did not wait for the dust to be cleaned, they took the lead in starting, the rhythm of binge eating, on the other side, more and more tall food has long been prepared in place, the female guest wanted to refuse to add food, But in the end it was added.

The female guests who had been refusing food before also ate with tears in their eyes, and then, his expression was mixed with worried excitement, and even went to grab other people's food, and became one of the greedy diners, these guests because of continuous plunder and devouring, but also eventually fell into the abyss of doom, obviously, this is a short film with allegory, the crystal chandelier symbolizing God's redemption, closely following the sinful guests, falling into the bottomless darkness, and the bald foreman corresponds to the evil angel Lucifer, The seven waiters represent the fallen seven angels.
They use the food in the short film to lure out people's greed, leading them to degeneration and self-destruction, these guests can be understood as the collective power of holding authority, and the female guest symbolizes a new generation, after layers of fall, she finds that her strength can not compete with them, and finally consciousness is completely assimilated, all imprisoned in the dark hell of human nature, of course, the development of human civilization is also inseparable from the greed of reason.
The diners in this film represent different social roles, the bearded man should represent the politician, the old man in white represents the scholar, the man with heavy makeup represents the show business people can also be extended to social moral opinion, the uniform woman naturally represents the military, the fat man seems to represent the politician with a fat brain, his partner is naturally a celebrity, the three bald men seem to be financiers, and the young and beautiful women represent the new force of society, that is, the young people who are still ordinary people. As for the waiters and bands, I personally feel a bit like nature, providing everything for greedy humans. And the mysterious person, just like the 'Tao' in the Chinese tradition, the 'Logos' in Western philosophy, it is a subtle scale and criterion for the change of everything in the world, it is the definition and formula of things, it will not actively interfere in the operation of the world, but nature must follow it, the film shows that the waiters and the band obey its arrangement, and the mysterious man himself is undoubtedly shrewd and wise.
A brief analysis in the order of the short films, the bloody feast symbolizes the naked plunder of nature by human beings, and all kinds of people sitting around the table form a miniature human society. The dark and eerie room symbolizes the shortness of the human eye, illuminated by a seemingly gorgeous but empty chandelier (the so-called human dream), only to see this little interest in front of him, and mercilessly devour it. The three bald men, who acted quickly and uniformly, were speculated to be financiers, with keen eyes and flexible maneuvering power, who were quickly seizing resources in this plunder. Women in uniforms, apparently representing the military, ate unsatisfied with the service of the waiters, and adding food themselves hinted at acts of armed plunder. Fat men may represent politicians, politicians are different from politicians, without the lofty ideals of the latter, concerned with their own benefits from wandering around the circle, a certain type of public official with a fat brain must come to mind in everyone's mind. The combination of this group of fat-hearted high-level scammers and celebrities is also normal.
Heavy makeup man, I don't know if it is my personal prejudice, but when it comes to the fashion industry, male masters in the design industry, etc., it will always make people think of the word 'mother cannon', and the over-embellished appearance and contrived behavior of the heavy makeup man are very in line with this image. And the attitude of being very disgusted with everything is reminiscent of social moral public opinion, which is very consistent with social public opinion that always occupies the moral high ground and despises everything. Young and beautiful women, as mentioned before, represent the new force of society, young and beautiful, but not yet fully integrated into the power class, slow to eat and watch the actions of politicians, may be in fear of becoming a politician (obese---- lose their hearts to become such a high-level liar).

At the last moment, when the 'creak' sound continued to sound, the diners were still plundering and devouring, and the beautiful woman representing the new forces collapsed, she may have finally understood that her strength was not enough to compete with the older generation of rulers, and she finally understood the power of this unbridled wild horse. So she joined the camp of plunder at the last moment, even going to grab other people's food. Finally, follow this group of crazy gluttons and embark on this 'journey of endless abyss'.
The waiters and bands, who were nature, were just doing their jobs according to the instructions of the Logos, waiting for the human beings in the 'next level' step by step, meeting the needs of the human beings, so in the end, they were all shocked and looked at each other, not understanding how humans had fallen into this field. And Logos only operates nature in a fixed pattern, he knows everything, but he only watches as a spectator how stupid humans destroy themselves. If anyone doesn't understand why diners fall into the endless abyss and the waiters mysterious people are okay, the setting of "Return to Earth" and "Robot Story" shows that even if humans are destroyed, there will still be tenacious life in nature to survive on this devastated earth.
