Beijing, October 24 (Reporter Tian Tian) On October 23, the Compilation Committee of the Report on the Development of Small and Medium-sized Cities in China, the Guoxin Small and Medium-sized Cities Index Research Institute, and the Social Science Literature Publishing House jointly released the "Green Paper for Small and Medium-sized Cities: Report on the Development of China's Small and Medium-sized Cities (2020-2021)".

According to the green paper research, the comprehensive economic strength of the top 100 counties has been enhanced year after year, and from the perspective of total scale, the 100 counties and cities shortlisted for the list have created 9.42% of the country's GDP and 3.80% of the general public budget revenue, and the total retail sales of social consumer goods account for 8.66% of the country. The 100 municipal districts shortlisted for the list, accounting for 7.47% of the country's population, have created 11.38% of the country's GDP and 4.53% of the general public budget revenue, and the total retail sales of social consumer goods account for 11.31% of the country, highlighting the advantages of agglomeration in strong areas. In 2020, the GDP of the top 100 counties and cities reached 9,573.2 billion yuan, the average GDP was close to the 100 billion mark, while the GDP of the top 100 districts reached 115616 billion yuan, and the average GDP exceeded 100 billion.
