Anti-war has always been an important idea implied by Akira Kurosawa's films, and the angle chosen by "Wild Dog" is undoubtedly the most ingenious, not to tell a painful story directly, but to borrow the sins that criminals continue to commit, and to reflect their misfortune through the confessions of the people around them in the police investigation, indirectly roundabout, and intriguing.

Wild dog, meaning stray dog. The story of the film takes place in post-war Japan in 1947, the people's livelihood and social atmosphere are frozen, the economic Depression period, the people's hearts are confused and the sense of social loss envelops Japan.

In the hot summer, the exhausted young criminal police officer Murakami (Toshiro Mifune) finishes shooting practice and boards a crowded and smelly bus to go home, when he suddenly finds that his gun has been stolen. He struggled to catch up, but eventually lost his target.
Murakami was remorseful and dejected, ready to face the punishment of being expelled. The kind section chief instructed him to ask Ichikawa, a veteran criminal police officer in the pickpocket section, for help. After Ichikawa's guidance, Murakami locks a woman standing next to the bus, the female habitual criminal Ah Yin.
In the face of inquiry, Ah Yin was secretive. The young Murakami showed the tenacity and patience of a wild dog, and the stalker Ayin also felt pity and pointed out the direction of Murakami's investigation.
In the film, Murakami and Ah Yin both sit on the terrace and watch the stars, someone plays the harmonica, a newcomer to the workplace who has suffered a major setback, and a habitual criminal who has worked in a dirty profession all his life, at that moment, they are not far away.
The next day, Murakami walked into the downtown area and went deep into the darkest corners of the city to look for clues about gun dealers. As Murakami could see, the multitude of people in post-war Japanese society appeared one by one.

Murakami first meets Sato in the interrogation room, and he is chatting with Murakami's newly captured female connector eating a popsicle. Understating the jokes, the inspector took an important clue from the female population.
