With the support of her family, she attended the law school of Soochow University at that time, and during the school's study, the society was in turmoil, and Liu Lu once took his classmates to participate in many patriotic and progressive student movements.
Liu Lu's long-standing wish was to directly enter the army after graduation and become a soldier and serve the army and the country. However, the sky did not go according to people's wishes, Liu Lu once had a certain obstacle to entering the army because of his family background, and finally after Liu Lu graduated, he stayed in the school and became a teacher.
Although she did not enter the army, Liu Lu did not give up on herself, she knew that as long as she persisted, there would be a chance, and she would never forget it, and there would be an echo. In the school days, Liu Lu has always held the attitude of "ten years of trees, a hundred years of tree people" and treated her work, and because she is knowledgeable and easy-going, Liu Lu was very popular with students in school.
However, every time Liu Lu dreamed back at midnight, he still couldn't forget his dreams when he was young.
With the arrival of 1950, Liu Luzeng finally waited for an opportunity.
In June, the Korean War broke out, and soon our volunteer troops also entered the battlefield. At that time, the most scarce thing on the battlefield, in addition to supplies, the remaining professionals who were good at English were professionals, because after all, they were fighting against the US army, so there must be people who knew English to deal with key intelligence and documents on the front.
From the experience of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the War of Liberation, intelligence was always the core competitiveness of war, so China's major universities at that time were calling on English college students to go to Korea to participate in the war.

And this is undoubtedly an opportunity for Liu Luzeng.
Before, for various reasons, she had not had the opportunity to enter the army, and now the country needs a lot of talents who understand English, so if she applies at this time, it will undoubtedly be a lot less obstructive. She is not an English department herself, but when she was a child, because of her family's wealth, Liu Lu had received a systematic education very early, so speaking fluent English was not a difficult thing for her.
So when the school had a notice, Liu Lu signed up for the volunteer recruitment, and as a result, after review, Liu Lu finally realized her wish to join the army, and the place where she was assigned at that time was the Enemy Engineering Department of the Ninth Corps of the Volunteer Army.

But soon after arriving at the battlefield, all her emotions were occupied by the tragic scene in front of her, the korean land was full of smoke, the fields were dazzling fires, and the feet were full of rubble, although Liu Lu had not experienced war, but from what she saw, she had already felt the cruelty of war.
However, Liu Lu was not a spoiled big lady, although the war environment was difficult, but she had been eager to contribute her strength to the country since she was a child, and now that the opportunity came, how could she shrink back because of the difficulties in front of her?
She and her companions followed the large troops, constantly shuttling through the battlefield, sometimes in poor conditions, and she could only spend the night in the bomb shelter, and there was no mat or even a straw on the cold ground.
In the extremely cold night in North Korea, Liu Lu had been lying on the cold ground, and in the middle of the night, I don't know how many times she had been frozen awake, but Liu Lu had not complained a word, because along the way, she knew very well that she did not know how many volunteer soldiers were struggling outside.

On the battlefield, Liu Lu worked as an English translator and immediately threw himself into work. But soon she found that although she was fluent in English, she struggled to translate military intelligence and documents accurately and quickly.
Therefore, in the daily heavy work, she must learn synchronously, and she must quickly learn some English words related to military majors, otherwise, her translation speed will not be able to be improved.
After reading the battle summary several times, Liu Lu clearly knew that even if the speed of intelligence translation could be faster than one minute, the results on the battlefield could be very different.
Moreover, she must also learn to use radio stations, so that the efficiency of listening to enemy radio stations to obtain intelligence will be maximized. Of course, in this way, Liu Luzeng needed to make up for the knowledge of military aspects in English even more.
So how did Liu Lu do in the face of such a situation?
In order to adapt to the environment in the war as soon as possible, she simply gave up all the rest time, as long as there was free time, she continued to absorb knowledge, for example, Liu Lu would often go to look for some captured US military supplies, like the US military guns have some inscriptions on them, Liu Lu will record it, and then consult books to understand its meaning.
Not long after, Liu Luzeng accumulated a lot of thick notes, and with the passage of time, Liu Luzeng quickly became a high-quality English translator. On the battlefield full of smoke and smoke, Liu Lu also had a special experience.
In November 1952, the Battle of Shangganling began.
From the perspective of future generations, the Battle of Shangganling can be regarded as a key battle that determined the dominant position of our volunteer army and the United Nations army during the period of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. This time, the Battle of Shangganling completely collapsed the confidence of the United Nations army.
The second meaning is that this war is a particularly classic defensive battle for the world war, and some people call it the "Battle of Verdun" on the Korean battlefield. And the significance of this battle is also obvious to us, and the most worthy of inheritance is even the "Shangganling Spirit".

And what did Liu Lu do in this war as an English translator?
At that time, the 24th Army of the Volunteer Army was at the forefront of the 38th Line, and when the battlefield was very glued, the chief decided to follow the allusion of "embattled" and launch an attack on the enemy with a psychological offensive.
At that time, Han Xin let the soldiers in the battalion sing chudi songs at night to break the morale of Xiang Yu's army, and now on this Korean battlefield, those Un troops were far away from home, and their lives and deaths were unpredictable, if they were homesick at this time, then their offensive would definitely be weak.
At that time, Liu Lu had been on the Korean battlefield for two years, and when she learned of this matter, she offered to go to the front line to carry out this mission, and the leader approved her request.
In this way, she passed through the layers of blockades and braved the continuous artillery fire, and Liu Lu finally came to the front line. The chief's idea was to let Liu Lu shout at the enemy on the front line, and no matter what method was used, it would eventually make those UN soldiers have a certain fluctuation in mood.
Christmas is coming, Liu Lu once thought of borrowing this festival to play some songs familiar to the US military, so whenever the night is quiet, Liu Lu once began to play "Ode to Joy", "Send Me Home" and other songs related to Christmas and hometown.
Of course, at the same time, Liu Lu also publicized the good policies of our army, especially in the area of preferential treatment of prisoners. The battlefield is in the valley, and the long song is repeated in the empty valley, like the echo of the nightingale.
This psychological offensive did work, the morale of many American soldiers was greatly affected, and the American commander had to change his defenses from time to time to barely maintain the current situation, but with the passage of time, the psychological defense line of the American soldiers had collapsed in a large area.

In July 1953, after the victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Liu Lu zeng also returned to the motherland with his troops.

Because of his outstanding performance on the battlefield, Liu Lu became a state cadre and continued to dedicate his part to the development of New China, and in the spring of 1979, Liu Lu, as the manager of the Nanjing branch of CITS, came to the United States with a doctor named Wu Yifang.
Wu Yifang was the first female university student in China, and she was the first woman to sign the UN Charter at the founding conference of the United Nations in 1945. On this visit to the United States, she thought of Liu Luzeng, who was very proficient in English, and invited her to go with her.
However, what Liu Lu did not expect was that this experience of going to the United States actually made her meet an "old acquaintance" on the battlefield.

At this time, Liu Lu would be escorted by soldiers and cross several blockade lines to the radio station.
The confrontation between the lines of arms is very tense, so the conditions of the radio station are not very good, sometimes there is only a simple loudspeaker, Liu Lu's daily task is to constantly introduce our military policy to the US army in English, and give the other side a psychological hint that "our army will win".
Liu Lu's education since childhood was also relatively systematic, so when she made a statement, she always spoke eloquently, and the language logic was clear and very powerful.
Later, in order to enhance the appeal, Liu Lu took the risk of moving a phonograph and a record of popular English songs that he had collected so hard to collect into the radio station.
