The last family letter

Zhilan:

Comrade Jiang Ming will bring you a dozen more words. Comrade Housewarming's group of passers-by had safely passed through the enemy's blockade a few days ago and would soon be able to reach Yan'an, and I think you will soon be able to see my letter. Hitler's "Spring Offensive" has broken out, which will affect the Japanese-Kosovar operation and the domestic situation in our country, and how the domestic situation will change may soon become clear. I am worried about you and the north, you hope to be able to recover well after entering the school, and when you have time to go to see the north, the children are in great need of care.

In the meantime, everything is business as usual, but life is much more difficult than before, and the troops cannot be sustained if they do not produce. I also planted forty or fifty artichokes, and twenty tomatoes, and they didn't grow badly. No flowers were planted this year, and I rarely played. In addition to working as usual every day, play poker and bullfighting during breaks. Zhi Lin loves to play cards, often asks me to play poker after dinner, his health is very good, and his work is not bad.

I think Taibei has grown taller and knows a lot of things, how is she doing in the nursery? Can you see her often? At the time of the letter, Hido reported everything in the North. In idle swimming and sitting alone, sometimes it is always as if you and Beibei are playing and talking with me, especially Beibei is very naughty, one time underground, one time crawling in the arms of his mother, and then from his mother's arms to his father's arms, making a lot of trouble, it is really happy. It's a pity that three people are divided into three, if they are together, it is really painful. Repeat that although I love Taibei so much, but the situation has changed, you can boldly deal with the problem of Taibei according to the situation, do not have to care about me. Everything is based on the principle of not giving you more to suffer, no more hindering your learning and hindering the action when necessary.

Zhilan! My dear:

It is easy to see when it is difficult, it has been separated for twenty-one months, when will we get together? Read, read, read, read! We are willing to work hard under the wind of the party's rectification and strive for progress! Comfort yourself with progress, and reward yourself with progress.

Not much more, good luck!

After the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out in 1937, Zuo Quan was appointed deputy chief of staff of the Eighth Route Army. Two years later, the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army decided to create an arsenal in Huangyadong, southeast of Jin, with Zuo Quan in charge of organizing it.

In November 1941, the Japanese army gathered more than 4,000 people to attack Huangyadong, Zuo Quan commanded a force of more than 1,000 people, relying on favorable terrain and fortifications, continuously repelled dozens of Attacks by the Japanese Army, fought bloodily for 8 days and nights, and achieved a brilliant victory of annihilating more than 800 enemy troops at the cost of 166 casualties.

In May 1942, after careful planning, the Japanese army carried out a large-scale sweep of the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army. At that time, Zuo Quan's wife Liu Zhilan was studying at the Party School, and his two-year-old daughter Zuo Taibei was in the Yan'an Nursery School, and when she heard that the Japanese army might bomb Yan'an, an anxious Liu Zhilan sent a telegram to Zuo Quan asking: "If the situation changes, how do I deal with Taibei?" ”

On May 22, the Japanese army was only a dozen kilometers away from the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, and at such a critical moment, when he learned that someone was going to Yan'an, Zuo Quan decided to write a letter to his wife Liu Zhilan to answer her questions.

In the letter, he told his wife about his own life in the midst of the gunfire, and wrote about his naughty daughter.

At the end of the letter, Zuo Quan had to bear to confess to his wife: "Although I love Taibei so much, but the situation has changed, you can boldly deal with the problem of Taibei according to your feelings, and you don't have to take care of me." ”

On the third day after writing this letter, the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army was transferred to Cross Ridge in Liaoxian County, Shanxi as planned, and was discovered by Japanese aircraft during the transfer.

Peng Dehuai, Zuo Quan, and others held an emergency meeting and decided to break through by separate routes. When the troops were about to break through the enemy's encirclement, Zuo Quan was hit in the head by shrapnel and martyred at the age of 37.

In the face of national peril, countless heroes like Zuo Quan, who were not afraid of sacrifice, exchanged their lives for peace in future generations.

Today, their figures are gone, but the spirit is passed down from generation to generation.
