The demand for terrain mapping in the power energy industry has a long history, whether it is line inspection, fault troubleshooting, line repair, it is inseparable from the support of surveying and mapping operations.

Under the tide of low-carbon energy and sustainable development, there is an increasing demand for mapping of clean energy-related scenarios such as photovoltaic sites, which puts forward higher and newer demands for surveying and mapping equipment.

Not long ago, Beike Tianhua used the miniature unmanned aerial vehicle-borne lidar system Hummingbird to conduct a topographic mapping test of photovoltaic power station, which verified the feasibility of airborne lidar in the photovoltaic inspection scenario.

Compared with the traditional power line inspection and power facility inspection, the situation of photovoltaic site inspection is more complicated, and the details that need to be paid attention to are more subtle and numerous.

In the process of photovoltaic inspection operations, it is not only necessary to pay attention to whether the photovoltaic panels, brackets, cables and other equipment are faulty and damaged, but also to determine whether the surface of the photovoltaic module is blocked, whether there is a large amount of dust, bird excrement or other dirt covered.

In addition, different from the traditional power inspection scenario, the shape of the measurement area of the photovoltaic inspection is mostly distributed in a rectangular sheet, and the number and complexity of the equipment of the photovoltaic power station are also higher.

The above characteristics of photovoltaic power plants put forward higher requirements for the surveying and mapping equipment used for photovoltaic inspection in terms of perception accuracy and route planning, which is where airborne lidar is used.

In September this year, the staff of Beike Tianhua came to a photovoltaic power station in the motherland with hummingbird miniature unmanned aerial vehicle on-board lidar system to test the feasibility and effect of lidar in photovoltaic inspection, and showed the strong strength of this high-precision mapping LiDAR independently developed by Beike Tianhua to the outside world.

The test site is located in the east of Jiangxi Province, located in the subtropical monsoon season, and the day and night changes are small, the total amount of solar radiation during the year is considerable, which is conducive to the development and utilization of solar energy, and the rapid development of the photovoltaic industry in the city.

In terms of equipment adoption, Beike Tianhua selected the DJI M300 flight platform to cooperate with Hummingbird to carry out this operation.

Hummingbird miniature UAV on-board lidar system, the total weight of the integrated camera is only 1.7kg, the UAV that is heavier than the weight of the equipment can be mounted, and has many advantages such as long measurement range, high precision, fast scanning speed, and convenient operation.

The DJI M300 drone is highly compatible with hummingbirds, which are easy to mount and take better than 3 minutes to deploy in the field. It has six-eye vision ability and supports 17m/s high-speed obstacle avoidance to ensure the safety of flight operations to the greatest extent. And can support the endurance time of more than 40 minutes under the condition of mounting hummingbirds, ensuring the continuity of operation.

After the tester enters the field, first according to the site conditions, at the edge of the photovoltaic site, select the appropriate take-off and landing site, and deploy the drone and hummingbird lidar system.

Subsequently, based on the comprehensive consideration of the requirements of the operation safety specification and the flight safety of the equipment, the UAV operator takes off the UAV to conduct fixed height and fixed point discriminant inspection to reduce the safety risks that may be caused by visual discrimination visual errors, and to carry out route planning and design based on the discriminant inspection results.

Two sorties are planned for this operation:

After the route planning is completed, the unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with the Hummingbird LiDAR system will take off and perform the flight collection task according to the established route.

The two flights were successfully completed and the operation entered the field data processing stage. After the original data is backed up, the tester uses the data preprocessing software of the system to settle the trajectory and point cloud data, and outputs the LAS point cloud file in standard format.

Through a series of subsequent processing such as denoising and classification of point cloud data, the ground point data of the working area is obtained, and the high-precision data results such as DOM and color point cloud of the measurement area are quickly output.

In this test, the Hummingbird lidar system gave full play to the advantages of long measurement range and high precision, and still ensured good scanning effect and efficiency under the premise of fully ensuring safety and redundancy. At the same time, hummingbirds have the advantages of light weight and high stability, and can solve data on the spot without empty three processing, which ensures the efficient and fast deployment of field deployment.

Hummingbird handed over a full score in the new scene of energy industry surveying and mapping in the photovoltaic inspection.

Excellent perceptual performance gives hummingbirds a strong three-dimensional spatial information acquisition ability on the surface of the terrain; a highly integrated system allows hummingbirds to quickly output a variety of high-precision data results to meet the needs of surveying and mapping operations in different fields; strong environmental adaptability allows hummingbirds to "come and go freely" in various special scenes, bringing efficient, accurate and stable mapping experience to more scenes in more fields.

Benefit from the full prominence of the Hummingbird lidar system. Not only in the energy field, but also in many industries such as engineering, mining, municipal highway administration, hummingbirds have been widely used. Backed by the independent development capabilities of high-end lidar in two categories of surveying and mapping and navigation, and with complete product upgrading and maintenance capabilities, hummingbirds will continue to "fly to a higher sky" and shine in one new scene after another of surveying and mapping.
