In 1960, he starred in "Naked Island", which won the Grand Prize of the Moscow International Film Festival. Since then, she has successfully portrayed a series of women living in the lower classes, and in addition to winning the Best Actress Award in Japan several times, she also won the Best Actress Award at the 1980 Venice International Film Festival for "Hanging".
