The ancestor who was all-rounder and died of loyalty was revered by his people

The Chang Family Ancestral Hall was built during the Guangxu Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty (1875-1909) after a member of the Chang family moved from Hengyang to Changsha.

The elite of the clan often become the idols that the clan worships. In this vein of the Chang clan, the most worshipped are Chang Yuchun and Chang Dachun. Chang Yuchun was a famous general in the early Ming Dynasty, known to most people, Chang Dachun does not seem to be so famous, but looking at his life, you can understand the reverence of the Chang clan for him.

Chang Dachun was a native of Hengyang, Hunan, and after the founding general of the Ming Dynasty, Chang Yuchun, daoguang jinshi, successively served as the inspector of imperial history, anhui envoy, hubei envoy, zhejiang inspector and so on. In the second year of Xianfeng (1852), when he was the governor of Hubei, he spared no effort to prevent the Taiping Army from entering Hubei, strengthen water and land facilities, and recruit water troops. After Xianfeng conquered Wuchang by the Taiping Army in the third year, he threw himself into a well and martyred himself. Edict to the Governor-General, Yuwen Festival.

Chang Dachun's fame was not because he was after Chang Yuchun, the king of Kaiping, nor was he the governor of Xianfeng after his death, but because he was the first of the four major bibliophiles in Hunan.

Chang Da Chun was a civil official, who loved books and became addicted to books, and once set up a library "Tanyin Pavilion", which built more than 600 square meters, collected more than 40,000 kinds of books, and inscribed more than 1,000 books and hundreds of stones, and was named Hunan. The "Draft History of the Qing Dynasty" contains "Da Chun Ren Rou", he loved books all his life, but wherever he smelled, there were orphans, rare books, and rare books, all of which were far away from the mountains and rivers to find, even if collectors could live in strange goods and ask for prices in the sky, they did not hesitate to buy them with heavy money.

In this way, the ancestors who were all-round in culture and martial arts and died of loyalty and martyrdom would naturally be revered by the clansmen, and the clan culture was based on the foundation of bloodline and elite worship.
