Guiping character Lin Fengxiang

Lin Fengxiang (1824-1855), also known as Lin Fengxiang, a native of Baisha, in addition to farming in his youth, often went to nearby towns and the Bauhinia Mountains to make a living as a businessman. Before the Jintian Uprising, he joined the Worship of God Society.

In January 1851 (the 30th year of Daoguang), during the Jintian Uprising, Lin Fengxiang was a subordinate of Xiao Dynasty and served as the vanguard of the former army. He has made many military achievements, appointed the imperial forest guard, and has been promoted to command and inspection. In 1853 (the third year of Xianfeng), he led an army to attack Changsha and Hankou, and was promoted to the title of Deputy Minister of Heavenly Officials for his first ascent to Wuchang City. In March of the same year, when attacking Nanjing, it first attacked the Yifeng Gate. Later, he and Li Kaifang led their troops to conquer Yangzhou and cut off the Qing army's north-south transportation.

In May 1853 (the third year of Xianfeng), Lin Fengxiang was ordered to go on a northern expedition, and together with Li Kaifang led an army of 20,000 people from Yangzhou, through Anhui and Henan, across the Yellow River, into Shanxi, and then returned to Yongnian County in Hebei province to defeat more than 10,000 people under the governor of Hebei Province. He also attacked Ren County, Longyao, ZhaoZhou, Jin County, Shenzhou and other county seats in a row. The Qing court was shocked. Lin Fengxiang was enfeoffed as marquis of Jinghu for his merits, and continued to take Xianxian County and Cangzhou in the east. At the end of October, he arrived at Yang Liuqing, because the lone army was deep, the long-term tossing and turning, the military strength was weakened, so that the strong attack on Tianjin was blocked, and the Tun army retreated to Jinghai, Hebei, while Li Kaifang was stationed in Duliu Town, echoing each other. In February 1854 (the fourth year of Xianfeng), due to the lack of grain and cold clothes, reinforcements were not reached, and Lin Fengxiang led his troops to retreat south through Dacheng and Xianxian. In May, he retired to LianZhen, Dongguang County, Hebei Province. On March 7, 1855 (the fifth year of Xianfeng), Lianzhen fell, and all the defenders were martyred. Lin Fengxiang was seriously wounded and captured. He was executed by Ling Chi on March 15 in Xishi, Beijing. In 1863 (the second year of Tongzhi), the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was posthumously crowned as the King of Seeking.
