As the country's first and only national historical and cultural city protection area, this year, gusu district in accordance with the overall positioning of "one center, two highlands, one model", with the passion of sprinting, accelerated the construction of major key projects in 41 provinces, municipalities and districts, promoted the high-quality development of the regional economy, and painted a prosperous new picture on the banks of the millennium canal.
Major construction projects to help promote the new development of the regional economy
Recently, the second phase of the General Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University has been a busy scene. The project is located in Pingjiang New Town, consisting of ward building, scientific research building, emergency building, infectious nuclear medicine building, outpatient medical technology building, with a total investment of 2.8 billion yuan, is expected to be completed in 2023, can add 1800 beds. "After the completion of the project, the overall number of beds in the first affiliated hospital of Suzhou University will reach more than 3,000, which will effectively enhance the image of regional benchmarking, establish and improve the medical intelligent system, and provide strong support for Gusu District to strengthen the education and medical highland." The relevant person in charge of the Gusu District Development and Reform Bureau said.
Adhere to the "project is king", go all out to promote project construction, and build a ballast stone for economic and social development. This year, Gusu District closely focused on the overall development goal of the "14th Five-Year Plan", based on the new development stage, implemented the new development concept, and built a new development pattern. All departments under the jurisdiction have earnestly fulfilled their responsibilities and worked together to overcome difficulties and provide a solid guarantee for the promotion of key projects. Statistics from the Gusu District Development and Reform Bureau show that this year, there are 41 major key projects in the province, city and district in the district, covering ancient city protection, residential development, trade and logistics, culture and technology, public medical care, etc., with an annual planned investment of 24.093 billion yuan. From January to September this year, the projects were generally progressing smoothly.
Up to now, the second phase of the comprehensive improvement, protection and utilization project of Taohuawu Historical and Cultural Area has been included in the provincial major project as a sub-project of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park, and the main structure of its tourism distribution center has been completed this year; the TayingYuan project of the comprehensive transformation project in the Tiger Hill area has been basically completed, and the road and Huqiu Old Street project are under construction; the comprehensive service center, supervision center and professional warehouse in the wharf project of Jiangsu (Suzhou) International Railway Logistics Center have been basically completed, and the wharf project has started in June The main structure of Suzhou Zhuhui Kimpton Cultural Tourism Project has been completed and is expected to open in May 2022; the comprehensive upgrading project of the Municipal Convention Center has been basically completed and is expected to be completed and accepted in late October.

It is reported that Suzhou Huamao Center is located in the Shilu business district, with a planned total construction area of 780,000 square meters, integrating headquarters office, fashionable products, luxury hotels, international apartments, and business travel services. The project started construction in June 2018, the commercial block will be opened for trial operation in 2022, and the overall operation of the project will be carried out by the end of 2023.
Driving urban renewal with key commercial projects is an important means to promote urban structural optimization and quality improvement. This year, Gusu District issued the "4+ 3" system of high-quality development industry support policies in the district, through the investigation and mapping of the existing key commercial and trade project resources in the district, combing and summarizing, determined 10 key commercial and trade projects such as Huamao Center, Guanqian Meiluo (south expansion), Yanheng Cangjie, Gemdale Plaza, Taihua Mall, Parkson Changfahui, etc., through the promotion of 10 key commercial projects, around the high-end retail, cultural and artistic services, lifestyle brands, late-night catering, e-sports and other formats of dislocation development, shaping the new pattern of Suzhou's commercial and trade development.
Among them, Suzhou Gemdale Plaza, located in the core area of the South Gate Business Circle, is the first double-head commercial project in the ancient city area. Its architectural form is based on the Suzhou garden, creating a lifestyle landmark that is in line with Suzhou's long and rich historical and cultural heritage. At present, the construction of the main structure of the project is basically completed, and the façade will be fully presented at the end of this year, and it will be officially opened in the third quarter of 2022. With a total commercial volume of 100,000 square meters, Xujiang Tianjie will take "family consumption" as the theme and take quality retail, children's comprehensive, catering and cuisine, and social services as the four cores to create a new landmark of high-quality and exquisite life in Suzhou's ancient city area. Pingjiang Tiandi Commercial Center is located in the core commercial area of Pingjiang New Town, with a total construction area of about 550,000 square meters, with the positioning and planning layout of the new youth trend gathering place, covering the super high-rise office buildings of Gusu Peak, Pingjiang Sunshine Shopping Center, Pingjiang Yue SOHO and other commercial comprehensive formats.

Located at No. 3 Deshoufang, FulangZhong Lane, the former residence of Shen Wanmin is a controlled and protected building in Suzhou. This year, the Gusu District Ancient Protection Committee focused on the story of a five-pointed star at the top of its gatehouse, with Shen Wanmin and Ye Tiandi as the main historical figures, built some of the buildings of Shen Wanmin's former residence into a party building exhibition hall, and used the wall space on both sides of Deshoufang to customize the deshoufang red cultural corridor, build a party member's initial heart education base, and use live red resources.
The ancient city is the brightest feature and brand of Suzhou, and the former residences of celebrities that still exist in the ancient city and are scattered in the depths of the alleys are the epitome of Suzhou's history. Since the beginning of this year, Gusu District has selected 6 celebrity former residences in the Pingjiang Historic District and No. 32 Neighborhood to carry out cultural display projects, and organize cultural excavation and revitalization. The District Ancient Protection Commission makes full use of the strength of expert think tanks, focusing on the standard identification of celebrities and celebrities' former residences, the selection of the direction of revitalization and utilization of celebrity former residences, and the establishment of the theme of celebrity former residence cultural display, etc., systematically excavates historical and cultural resources, and clearly takes the construction of the brand core of celebrity former residences, the diversification and upgrading of display means, and the integration and empowerment of scientific and technological information as the main means to realize the leap from the traditional single-dimensional plane display of celebrities to the roaming, interactive, comprehensive and diversified display of celebrities, and promote the high integration of cultural relics buildings and celebrity history.
At present, 4 cultural display projects, including Caocangzhou Ancestral Hall, have been completed. It is reported that in addition to the former residence of Shen Wanmin, the Cao Cangzhou Ancestral Hall project located at No. 4, Fanlian Lane, takes the life deeds of Cao Cangzhou, the repair project of Cao Cangzhou Ancestral Hall, and the development process of Wumen Medical School as the main background, combined with the introduction of Lei Yunshang Group format, to create a display window for traditional Chinese medicine culture; Pan Shien House is now a Suzhou Zhuangyuan Museum, and the cultural exhibition hall project mainly presents the life deeds of Pan Shien and his family and the repair, protection and utilization of Pan Shien's house through pictures, multimedia and other methods.
