Xie Jin: Why did a genius who shocked the heavens and the earth die at the hands of JinyiWei overnight?

Xie Jin, do you know?

If you don't know, it doesn't matter at all, next, the author sketches some pictures that may remind you of him.

One: Zhu Di, the Yongle Emperor, once said a sentence: The world cannot be reduced in a day, and it is not possible to solve the problem in one day!

Zhu Di confessed that there could be no emperor in the world, but he could not go a day without an emperor.

Second: How to choose the heir, Zhu Di was uncertain, and when asking for the opinions of his subordinates, Xie Jin only used three words: Good Saint Sun, which immediately determined the future of the empire.

The above are all classic pictures left by Xie Jin, however, this great talent with great learning fell in the snow at the age of 47.

Why?

On November 7, 1369, in the second year of Hongwu (1369), a baby boy fell to the ground on the shore of Jian Lake in Jishui County, Ji'an Province, Jiangxi Province.

From this day on, Xie Jin will devote his life to writing a legend of his own.

Xie Jinzi big gentleman, number spring rain or Xiyi, play small clever top, astute incomparable, in childhood there is a "prodigy" known.

Legend has it that during his swaddling, his mother wrote on the ground to teach him to recognize, untie the teeth and teeth, and was naturally sensitive to those symbols.

When he was five years old, his father untied and taught him poetry, and after only one time, Xie Jin remembered it, and two years later he could write an article with a pen.

At the age of eleven, he memorized an article of more than a thousand words every day and never forgot it for the rest of his life.

At the age of twelve, he read the Four Books and the Five Classics—not just reading through them, but reading them all over again, integrating them, and paying attention to the essence of them.

With such a thick accumulation, soon, Xie Jin and the Xie family will shock the Ming Dynasty.

In the twentieth year of Hongwu (1387), Xie Jin participated in the Jiangxi Provincial Township Examination, ranking first in the list, and won the championship of "Xie Yuan".

The following year, zhongpeng Chenke entered the tenth place in the third class, and in the court examination, he and his brother-in-law Jin Lun and his brother-in-law Jinhua were the same as the jinshidi, and the three brothers created an out-of-print myth of a three-jinshi.

So the question is, why didn't Xie Jin, who was in a desperate state, have no titles and the first?

It turned out that Xie Jin's article was magnificent and sharp, and the chief examiner originally pointed out that he was a first-class candidate and was proposed to be a "champion" candidate.

However, other examiners believed that the speech in the text was too sharp, the views were too trendy, and they were afraid of attracting right and wrong because of it, so they deliberately ranked him in tenth.

But this did not affect the myth of the future of Jie Jin, his amazing talent was destined to go to the cusp of the storm, perhaps because it was too dazzling, from this moment on, it bred his sadness and joy.

Unravel the handwriting

After the court examination, Xie Jin was awarded the title of Shu Jishi (庶吉士) and the secretary of the middle school.

Note that the special title of Shujishi, although not a specific official position, is a benchmark, because for the next 200 years this title will be closely associated with the "Cabinet" and "Shoufu" (to enter the Cabinet, you must first become a Shujishi).

In Nanjing, Zhu Yuanzhang was impressed by this handsome-looking, tall man.

History of The Ming Dynasty. The Biography of Xie Jin records: "Even see the love of the heavy, often serve the emperor before.

Zhu Yuanzhang was very reassuring, with a good hand, a talent, and a beautiful face that allowed him to accompany the emperor from time to time.

After a long time, the two have feelings.

Once, Zhu Yuanzhang said to Xie Jin in the west room of the Great House:

I and you are morally kings, and from kings and sons, you should know everything about me.

Xie Jin, who had this grace, wrote a book that night, and the next morning the dynasty presented Zhu Yuanzhang with a book of ten thousand words, which advocated concise laws and rewarded the government, and Zhu Yuanzhang was secretly shocked after reading it.

Soon, Xie Jinyang sprinkled and presented the "Ten Strategies of Taiping" again, this time, Zhu Yuanzhang did not commend them, but quietly implemented the ten strategies selectively.

Zhu Yuanzhang knew very well that Xie Jin was an unborn wizard, but he was young and vigorous, arrogant, sharp in edges and corners, and his personality was too wild, and he was vaguely worried about him.

Sure enough, Xie Jin had another amazing move, as a Len Touqing, he directly impeached the then Bingbu Shangshu Shen Qian, saying that he had neglected his duties and abused his power, and for this, he provoked Shen Qian's anger, and thus was falsely accused by Shen Qian.

Zhu Yuanzhang knew this, and superficially reprimanded Xie Jin, calling him "scattered and angry", and at the same time demoted him to the position of Inspector of Jiangxi Province.

There are two theories in history here, the first: Zhu Yuanzhang deliberately reduced Xie Jin to the supervision of imperial history, and left it for his daily reuse after training;

The second type: In order to prevent Xie Jin from being secretly plotted against in the imperial court, in order to protect him, he deliberately abandoned him and let him grow into a vassal of the future emperor's grandson (Zhu Yunjiao).

Although these two claims are speculations of later generations, either one has been confirmed.

In the twenty-fourth year of Hongwu (1391), Zhu Yuanzhang summoned Xie Jin's father to enter Beijing and said to him bluntly:

If the big instrument is late, if the Erzi returns, the benefit is advanced, and in the next ten years, the great use is not too late.

The gist of it is: your son is talented, but his character is flawed, let him go home for ten years, temper his heart, and after ten years, the big instrument will become late, or he will become a real pillar of the country.

Unraveling the thousand thanksgiving, Xie Jin was led back to The old home of Jishui in Jiangxi.

This year, Xie Jin was 22 years old. In his hometown, he proofread and revised the "History of the Yuan", supplemented the "Book of Song", deleted the "Book of Rites", and hurriedly completed the big stroke more than once in eight years.

Xie Jin: Why did a genius who shocked the heavens and the earth die at the hands of JinyiWei overnight?

Zhu Yuanzhang originally planned to hang out for ten years, but in the eighth year (1398), he himself died. Immediately afterward, the Emperor's grandson Zhu Yunjiao succeeded to the throne and began the Jianwen era.

After receiving the news of Zhu Yuanzhang's death, Xie Jin immediately left Jiangxi and went to Beijing to mourn. Just after arriving in Nanjing, a hidden arrow was fired at him, and the person who held the feather was Yuan Tai, the protagonist of the Xie Jin Dynasty's Imperial History Xia Chang Cultural Revolution, "On the Biography of Yuan Tai's Adultery".

In Shuzhong, Xie Jinzhi Chen Yuan Tai despised Chao Gang and framed Zhongliang, causing Yuan Tai to be punished by Zhu Yuanzhang and being embarrassed, and it was precisely because of this incident that Zhu Yuanzhang felt that Xie Jin was too sharp and lacked the heart, and was destined to become the target of attack by the group of courtiers.

Unexpectedly, the situation was already easy, Yuan Tai became Zhu Yunjiao's close subordinate, and Yuan Tai's reason for attacking Xie Jin was very accurate, and he secretly informed Zhu Yunjiao, saying that Xie Jin:

Edict, and the mother is not buried, the father is ninety years old, and it is not appropriate to give up.

In feudal society, benevolence and filial piety rule the world, the mother died shortly after the death and was not buried, the father was more than ninety years old, and he decided to go out, which was really a great rebellion.

This hidden arrow turned Xie Jin into a honeycomb, so Zhu Yunjiao ordered him to be demoted to he to serve as a guard in Hezhou (河州, near present-day Lanzhou, Gansu).

If it is said that the sharp edge of Xie Jin was fully exposed, in fact, he still had a good relationship, or that gold would shine everywhere.

Dong Lun, the attendant of the Ceremonial Department at the time, had a unique insight, and during the period when Xie Jin was degraded, he excused him in front of Zhu Yunjiao and said a lot of good things.

At this time, the Battle of Jingnan initiated by Zhu Di, the King of Yan, was in full swing, and Zhu Yunjiao was in urgent need of employment, and a paper order allowed Xie Jin to return to Nanjing again, but he was granted a painless position: Hanlin Yuan.

In November of the same year, he was promoted to the position of first assistant to the cabinet.

Please note that at this time, the head of the cabinet was still a fictitious position and had no real power.

Let's continue with the cabinet.

In 1402, Zhu Di took a different path, unexpectedly crossed the Yangtze River, invaded Nanjing, replaced Zhu Yunjiao, and became the future Yongle Emperor.

From this year onwards, Zhu Di established the Wenyuan Pavilion, and ordered Xie Jin, Huang Huai, Yang Shiqi, Hu Guang, Jin Youzi, Yang Rong, and Hu Yu to participate in the aircraft maintenance, and thus the rudiments of the Ming Cabinet system were born.

Here to add: the cabinet of the Yongle Dynasty was purely Zhu Di's think tank, with a grade ranging from five to seven pins, mainly responsible for drafting documents and drafting edicts for the emperor, which was very different from the cabinet composed of the six heads of state in the future.

However, this system is epoch-making, because it predates the Europeans by a full three hundred years.

Before Zhu Di captured Nanjing, Xie Jin had another story. History of The Ming Dynasty. The Biography of Wang Geng records:

Yan Bing Bo Jingcheng... Xie Jin, Wu Pu and Gen, Jing Bi Sheju. The night before the fall of the city, all gathered in Pushe...

Meaning: The day before the Yan soldiers broke through the city gates, Xie Jin, together with his Fellow Jiangxi compatriots Wang Geng and Hu Guang, gathered at the home of another fellow, Wu Pu, to drink. That night, Xie Jin packed up his things and planned to personally welcome Zhu Di into the city.

Regarding whether Xie Jin is loyal to the king, we only talk about trade-offs, regardless of discipline, because between ignorance and history, we have come to the Yongle era.

After the destruction of the city, Xie Jin took the initiative to get closer to Zhu Di in the middle, and Zhu Di attached great importance to Xie Jin in order to win over those Hanlin wenchen.

In the first year of Yongle, Zhu Di ordered Xie Jin to compile the "Records of Taizu Shilu" and also made him the chief examiner of the imperial examination that year. On the first day of July, he was ordered to set up a team of 147 civilian ministers to edit the "Literature Dacheng".

A year later, Xie Jin, together with Yao Guangxiao and others, once again led 2169 courtiers to continue to expand the book, and later, this huge work had a new name, called the Yongle Canon.

The Yongle Canon is a treasure of Chinese culture and a rare encyclopedia in the world so far.

It is a collection of astronomy, geology, yin and yang, medical divination, monasticism, and technical words, each of which is compiled into a book. There should be 11,095 originals, and there are currently 418 through national collection and foreign returns, but unfortunately, only 3.8% of the total number of copies.

The work of relieving the jin is indispensable. Only because of the book: the cover is inexhaustible, and the use is inexhaustible.

At the same time, Xie Jin and Zhu Di were accompanied day and night, and they were extremely popular. History of The Ming Dynasty. The Biography of Xie Jin records:

The division of endorsement, the secret of the secret, and the day and night of the service, the benefit is not under the book also.

The gist of it is that no one in the cabinet members, as well as the six Shoshu, can match him.

Xie Jincai is high in eight fights, the power is like the sun in the sky, arrogance and conceit make him stand out from the crowd one by one, one by one, arrogant or innate, which is also the root of future tragedies.

Soon after Zhu Di sat on the throne, he had been greatly troubled by the matter of Li Chu.

According to the emperor's ancestral precepts, "Standing up and standing up for a long time" is understandable, but Zhu Di is wandering left and right - the eldest son, Zhu Gaozi, is gentle and elegant, sympathetic to the people, but his body is fat, he does not like military affairs, and he does not have Zhu Di's domineering and heroic spirit in his bones.

The second son, Zhu Gaoxu, was brave and good at war, and the Jingnan battlefield repeatedly pulled his father back from the line of life and death, and in Zhu Gaoxu Zhu Di saw his own shadow, and realistically speaking, he did have the idea of establishing a child.

Hesitantly, Zhu Di summoned his ministers to hear their thoughts.

Originally, the emperor's establishment of the crown prince was the king's family affair, and the ministers were secretive and did not dare to speak lightly, for fear of betting on the wrong treasure and bringing the disaster of killing in the future.

But Xie Jin was different, and when Zhu Di asked him, he first replied:

The emperor's eldest son, Ren Xiaoxiao, returned to the heart of the world.

The emperor's eldest son (Zhu Gaozi) RenXiao, inheriting the throne is the people's desire.

This sentence had already made his attitude clear, but Zhu Di had to ask the root of the matter and ask him why he supported Zhu Gaozi. Forced to be helpless, Xie Jin said the words in his heart: Good Saint Sun.

Who is the good Saint Sun? He was Zhu Zhangji, the eldest son of Zhu Gaozi.

On the day Zhu Zhanji was born in the Yan King's Mansion, Zhu Di had a dream in which his father Zhu Yuanzhang gave him a Great White Gui, and the Great White Gui was the magic weapon that inherited the Great Unification.

As soon as the three words "Good Saint Sun" came out, Zhu Di completely woke up Zhu Di, after which Zhu Di made up his mind to make Zhu Gaozi the crown prince, in other words, the sentence of Xie Jin determined the future of the empire after Ming Chengzu.

However, Xie Jin had exonerated a person, and this person was Zhu Gaoxu, the King of Han, who was excluded from the crown prince by Zhu Di, so after this incident, Zhu Gaoxu always held a grudge against Xie Jin.

After Zhu Gaozi became crown prince, Zhu Di always felt indebted to Zhu Gaoxu and hoped to make amends for him, but because of repeated accommodation, another situation was formed:

Gao Xu favored Yilong, and the rank of etiquette was more and more concubinaged.

Zhu Gaoxu flew in the capital and proclaimed himself Li Shimin of Tang Taizong, with the ambition of Xuanwumen.

Xie Jin looked in his eyes and felt that Zhu Gaoxu was lawless, so he took the initiative to stand up and count zhu Gaoxu's not.

This time, Xie Jin not only offended Zhu Gaoxu again, but also flicked Zhu Di's dragon scales, committing a royal taboo.

Zhu Di believes that this is Xie Jin's separation of the flesh and bones of the Heavenly Son, deliberately instigating the contradiction between them.

From then on, Zhu Di began to alienate Xie Jin, in other words, from the third year of Yongle, Xie Jin was about to fade out of Zhu Di's vision.

Next, something subtle happened to Xie Jin. History of The Ming Dynasty. The Biography of Xie Jin records:

Jin Shao ascended to the dynasty, only high, straight ahead, moving in the surface. The class of inductive warriors, there is a good name that is not to be spoken. However, if it is good or not, there is no scruple, and the courtiers are more harmful to their favor.

The gist is: Xie Jin is brilliant in literature, straightforward in character, prelude to the imperial prelude, and well-versed in appearance; colleagues have advantages, he praises them, but if there are shortcomings, he will also speak out bluntly;

For this reason, many people were exonerated, and when he was snubbed by Zhu Di, few people stood up to help him speak.

Xie Jin was depressed, but still went his own way.

Xie Jin: Why did a genius who shocked the heavens and the earth die at the hands of JinyiWei overnight?

In the fourth year of Yongle, Zhu Di, in order to praise the merits of the cabinet, specially rewarded each member with two pieces of sarees, but only xie jin was left behind, which made him very embarrassed.

Logically, this is a side knock, intended to wake up Xie Jin, it is said that at this time, Xie Jin is still unconscious.

Soon, a terrible thing happened, the Ming History says:

For a long time, Fu and others briefly conveyed the foreign court, and Gao Xu then leaked the forbidden Chinese language.

To the effect: Zhu Di found that the confidential matters he had discussed in the cabinet had been leaked to the outer court.

Originally, this matter was done by Qiu Fu, the first general of jingnan, but Zhu Gaoxu took the opportunity to frame him and put the pot on Xie Jin's head.

At this moment, Zhu Di was completely enraged. Since there was no one to support, it was difficult to argue.

The following year, another official impeached Xie Jin for reading the papers unfairly in the imperial examination, and Xie Jin did not have time to argue, so Zhu Di issued an edict and demoted him to his toes--in this life, the two people never met again.

Xie Jin: Why did a genius who shocked the heavens and the earth die at the hands of JinyiWei overnight?

At this time, the author remembered the sentence that Zhu Di had said earlier: The world cannot be without a day, but it cannot be less than a day. It has to be said that it is a great irony.

In the author's opinion, Xie Jin is just a chess piece in Zhu Di's hand, or a tool, only because Xie Jin's honesty and fearlessness have whisked the emperor's will, so he was abandoned by Zhu Di.

In the eighth year of Yongle, Xie Jin returned to Beijing to report for duty after being degraded for three years. This time, he still had a dream, eager to stay in the capital and do something for his home country.

Coincidentally, Zhu Di happened to be on an expedition to Mongolia and was not in the capital - there was no hope of reporting to the emperor, Xie Jin turned his head to see the crown prince Zhu Gaozi, reported back, and then returned to the south.

Unexpectedly, this matter was caught by Zhu Gaoxu again, and when Zhu Di returned from the Northern Expedition, he fiercely complained to his father.

Xie Jin: Why did a genius who shocked the heavens and the earth die at the hands of JinyiWei overnight?

The original routine report was described by Zhu Gaoxu as:

The prince of the private meeting has committed misdeeds one by one.

The tragedy of Xie Jin has come. Zhu Di chased after the Jinyi guards overnight for the crime of "no one's courtesy" and loaded Xie Jin into a prison cart into Beijing in Guangdong.

Before the arrest, Xie Jin was still writing a note - on the way back, he saw that the drought on both sides of the Ganjiang River was serious, and decided to ask the imperial court to build water conservancy and moisten the fertile land.

This is Xie Jin, the Xie Jin who cares about the people, and just does not xie jin.

Xie Jin: Why did a genius who shocked the heavens and the earth die at the hands of JinyiWei overnight?

After being escorted back to the capital, Xie Jin was imprisoned, tortured, and lived a dark life.

Five years later, in the thirteenth year of Yongle (1415), according to the custom, Jinyi Weidu commanded You Shi Jigang to report to Zhu Di the executed prisoners who should be executed that year, and xie jin's name on the list was prominently listed.

Zhu Di looked at this name, glanced at Ji Gang, and indifferently asked: Jin yu is still in this world?

This is a code word, Ji Gangxin understands.

That night, Ji Gang carried wine and vegetables to the cell where Xie Jin was imprisoned, lit a candle and had an in-depth long conversation with him.

On this day, it was the thirteenth day of the first month; on this day, Xie Jin was very drunk; on this night, the north wind outside the house whistled and the snow flew.

In the darkness of the night, Ji Gang dragged Xie Jin into the snow and ordered someone to bury him in the snow.

The rain and snow were soaking wet, and then he suddenly woke up and struggled hard, but the heavy snow had already wet his heart.
