Jinan Changqing Yijing Temple, is a thousand-year-old temple in the hometown of Master Yijing, Master Changjing made it rise from the ruins, restore the ancestral court of Master Yijing, and build a grand scale "Yijing Temple" in the name of Master Yijing in the name of Master Yijing, so that Master Yijing can regain its glory in the Buddhist circles and show its glory in the world.
It is understood that Yijing Temple, formerly known as Shuangquan Temple, was built during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and was the lower courtyard of the Tugu Temple, where the tang dynasty monk Yijing Master Yijing was ordained, and it was also the temple where Master Yijing was stationed in Xi.
Speaking of Master Yijing, perhaps many people don't know much about it, so you must know Master Xuanzang in "Journey to the West", and the story of his Western Heavenly Scriptures can be described as well-known, young and old! Master Yijing, like Master Xuanzang, also went to the Western Heavens to seek the True Scriptures, but the difference is that Xuanzang took the land route, and Yijing arrived in India through the "Maritime Silk Road" and was the "first person to seek the Law on the Sea" in ancient China.
Yijing (635-713), commonly known as Zhang, character civilization, Qizhou Shanzhi (now Changqing, Jinan, Shandong), a famous monk of the Tang Dynasty, was one of the four major translators of ancient Buddhism in China, together with Faxian and Xuanzang, known as the three most famous monks in Chinese history who went to India to learn the scriptures and seek the Dharma, and was called a famous medical monk in China.
Master Yijing was a native of Jinan, born in 635 in Zhangxia, now the Changqing District. In his lifetime, he translated 107 Buddhist scriptures and 428 volumes. After he became a monk at the age of fourteen, he took Master Xuanzang as his example. In the choice of path taken by taking the scriptures, Yijing is more legendary than Xuanzang, who follows the land route, while Yijing travels by sea and land, so that he encountered two storms in the South China Sea and almost lost his life.
In the summer of 693, after Yijing returned from taking the scriptures and arrived in Luoyang, Wu Zetian specially held a welcome ceremony for Yijing and personally went out of the city to greet him, which was very remarkable at that time. After Xuanzang returned from the scriptures, although there was also a welcome ceremony, it was not tang Taizong who personally greeted him, but the chancellor Fang Xuanling went out of the city to greet him. Therefore, compared with the welcome ceremony of the emperor at that time, the specifications of Yijing were obviously higher than that of Xuanzang in that year. Because of his outstanding achievements in translating the scriptures, Yijing was named "Master of The Three Tibetans".
During the reign of Emperor Zhongzong of Tang, Emperor Zhongzong imitated Emperor Taizong of Tang in writing the "Order of the Three Sacred Teachings of the Three Treasures of the Great Tang" for Xuanzang, and personally wrote the "Order of the Three Sacred Teachings of the Three Tibetans of the Great Tang Longxing" in recognition of Yijing. The following year, Yijing went west to Chang'an with him, set up a monastery at Dajianfu Temple (Little Wild Goose Pagoda), and lived in the temple.
In his later years, Yijing fell ill at dajianfu Temple, and Tang Xuanzong died in the second year of the first month (713), and was buried outside the Yanxing Gate of Chang'an, and a temple was built around the tomb tower, which was named the Golden Guangming Temple in recognition of his translation of the "Golden Guangming Most Victorious King's Classic".
The current Yijing Temple was built on the basis of the original Shuangquan Temple, which is scattered along the mountain. I came down from the hill and watched the roofs of the various halls glow golden. The Daxiong Treasure Hall is the highest position, down the steps, and see the red characters on the yellow background on the wall, "Everything has a way, like a dream bubble", awakening many dreamers.
Next to the Jizo Hall, you can see three stone steles, two of which are between Jiaqing and one of which is modern, recording the history of its construction in 2011.
The yijing temple complex is quite large, and on the central axis there are mountain gates, medicine halls, Daxiong treasure halls, Dharma halls - Tibetan scripture buildings, Yuantong treasure halls, etc., and there are more than a dozen buildings in the east and west side halls. The whole complex is solemn. The temple and the mountain are one and the same.
The temple is surrounded by mountains, pines and cypresses, and ancient trees are lined up; although the double springs in the temple have been more than a thousand years old, they still flow and flow endlessly all year round; the thousand-year-old inscription tells about the vicissitudes of the past, and what is particularly rare is that the true relics of the Master of Yijing still exist in front of the main hall" "flowers and rain are colorful, the branches of the trees are combined with the leaves, and the incense clouds are surrounded by golden light in the shadows of the flowers"; the two thousand-year-old cypress trees in front of the Daxiong Treasure Hall, one withered and one glory, "the glory is always happy and I am pure, and the dry is the four great emptiness", all of which expound the origin of the Dharma and present a sense of auspiciousness.
The Yijing Temple, which was restored from the ruins of the old temple site, has expanded in recent years, extending from the middle of the mountain to the top of the mountain, and the larger temple complex expanded on the top of the mountain is called the Upper Court. The north-south Tongming Mountain stretches on the east side like a reclining Buddha, and the ridge of the wall stands like a screen.
Yijing Temple is a monastery named after the master monk Yijing, and it is also one of only 2 monasteries in China to be named after a senior monk, and the other is Xuanzang Temple in Shaanxi.
Nowadays, the monastery dojo is solemn, the daily bells are long, the incense is leisurely, the sound is gusting, the shelter of the holy soil is smooth, and the well-being of the people on the other side is long. The temple's daily morning bells and twilight drums, surrounded by Sanskrit sounds, bring a piece of Zen peace to the public in the ten directions.
