author:Zhang Shengquan's wonderful history

In 1928, Sun Lutang, a martial arts master known as the "Martial Saint", was hired by the Wudang GateKeeper of the Central Guoshu Hall, but he did not expect that soon after Sun Lutang took office, Wang Ziping, a young and famous descendant of the martial arts community, challenged him. As a result, Sun Lutang not only delayed the battle, but also hastily resigned from the post of Wudang gate chief.

(Sun Lutang)

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the People's Republic, there were many martial arts masters, such as Du Xinwu, Huo Yuanjia, etc., compared to these people, Sun Lutang seemed to be more powerful, he was not only strong in martial arts, he had countless kicks in his life, he had never been defeated, and he also wrote and so on, and successively wrote "Shape And Intention Boxing", "Bagua Palm Study", "Fist Intention Shuzhen", "Bagua Sword Science", "On the Difference Between Inside and Outside the Boxing", etc., and was the first martial arts master in the martial arts at that time to publish a martial arts book, so he was famous.

As for how powerful his martial arts are, there are not only many legends in the folk, but also many praises in media publications. For example, Tianjin's "Ta Kung Pao" commented that he was "the three families of conformity, bagua and taiji, consistent, purely divine behavior, and the fine technicians in the sea are all looking forward to the wind", the Beijing Daily also called him "the only famous hand of Taijiquan in China", and the World Journal also said that he "has reached the top of his art"...

Compared with Sun Lutang, Wang Ziping was too obscure.

In 1881, Wang Ziping was born in Cangzhou, Hebei Province, into a martial arts family, where his grandfather was known for his "flipping bar" and his father was also known as the "King of Thick Arms". However, at that time, the practice of martial arts was regarded as the behavior of barbarians, and people of high status often regarded martial arts training as very low. Because of this, the Wang family has been practicing martial arts for several lifetimes and has never been able to get rid of the poverty of the family.

After Wang Ziping was born, his father did not want him to continue to learn martial arts, hoping that he could learn something else, and perhaps change the family's situation. However, Wang Ziping was still a good martial artist since childhood. Fortunately, his mother was very open-minded and thought that Xi Wu could also have food to eat, so with her support, Wang Ziping was allowed to learn art from his teacher.

However, the process of Prince Ping's learning from his master was not smooth, he had several martial arts masters as his teachers, but it did not take long for these martial arts masters to refuse to accept him as an apprentice, and the grumpy martial arts masters also called him "beaten wood". It can be seen that in the process of learning martial arts, he not only has no talent, but may also be very dull, so he will leave an impression of "untouchable" to others.

The prince, who failed to worship the master and was severely bruised by his self-esteem, could not swallow this breath secretly vowed that he must learn to be famous. Since then, when others don't teach, he steals to learn. In order to practice long jump and high jump, he often dug pits and trenches for jumping. In addition, he wore the Ergen Star Dou early every morning and practiced intently in the wild woods. Whether it was a three-volt summer day or an ice and snow, he had never had a break in his practice.

To say what Wang Ziping practices every day is too complicated, such as standing on plum blossom piles, taking a big roof, lifting a stone, playing sandbags, and so on. In short, whether it is internal martial arts or weapons, whenever he has the opportunity to learn, he will never be ambiguous. Over the years, he not only practiced a body of tendon meat, but also practiced a good hand of boxing.

(Wang Ziping)

In 1900, after the Eight-Power Alliance captured the city of Beijing, it carried out a bloody suppression of the Boxers, which had always claimed to "help the Qing Dynasty and destroy the Oceans". As a boxer, Wang Ziping could only avoid Jinan in order to protect himself.

When he took refuge in Jinan, Wang Ziping continued to learn martial arts at the martial arts training center founded by Ma Liang, the town guard in Jinan, and it was the famous Cha Quan master Yang Hongxiu who taught him martial arts. Under the guidance of Yang Hongxiu, Wang Ziping acquired many martial arts skills and Upanishads, and made rapid progress.

Once, Wang Ziping was running errands on the street, and saw that there were many people around the three outer three floors in front of him, and he squeezed in to take a look, and it turned out to be a "water push mill". I saw two large stone mills with the help of the power of the water flow, flying non-stop, like wheels, and the rotation force was extremely fierce. Everyone was amazed by this strange trick and praised it. The prince itched his hands so much that he said to the crowd, "I can hold it and make it stop spinning."

Although Wang Ziping looked quite majestic, the rapidly rotating stone mill could never stop it without divine power, so everyone felt that he was bragging. For a moment, either someone in the crowd snickered, or someone shook his head, and some people simply squinted at him and dismissed him.

When the prince saw that everyone did not believe it, he simply rolled up his sleeves and strolled to the stone mill. Then his legs sank, his body leaned forward slightly, and after taking a deep breath, he concentrated on pulling the stone mill that was flying. This pull, only afraid of a thousand pounds of force, suddenly made the people present stunned and unable to speak. Since then, Wang Ziping has been known as the "King of Thousand Pounds".

However, what really made the prince evenly out of the limelight was his two contests with foreigners.

In 1918, Wang Ziping served as a martial arts instructor in the Beijing army. At that time, a Tsarist Hercules named Tai kang er came to Beijing to hold a "SaiWu Society", claiming to be invincible all over the country. In order to charge a few more advertising fees, the "Suncheon Times" also touted him in the newspaper, calling him "a martial artist, a world-famous earthquake ... These flattering words without national dignity angered all the good men in the martial arts world, so they took the stage to duel with Tai Kang'er, but none of them won.

When Prince Ping found out, he decided to take on Tai Kang. The Beiyang government was afraid of causing international problems, so it warned Prince Pingduo and resolutely did not allow him to compete with Taikanger. However, Wang Ziping did not succumb to the Beiyang government, but instead led the soldiers who studied martial arts with him to find the "Saiwu Society". After Tai Kang Er took the stage, Wang Ziping went up. After only one round, Taikang fell to the ground. For a while, the audience clapped their hands and applauded, and Tai Kang Er also knew that he had met a master, and since then he has not dared to show off his skills on stage.

There was also an American named Sullivan, who united several American heroes and set up a "martial arts arena for all nations" in Shanghai. Since several of them are good wrestlers and sanda, they don't pay attention to Chinese. And declared in the newspapers that if they were punched, they would be rewarded with 500 silver; if they were knocked to the ground, they would be rewarded with 1,000 silver.

A few foreigners were so arrogant on the territory of the Chinese that the Chinese people were indignant. Some people even donated money and materials, hoping that martial arts masters could fight for the country. The martial arts community was also very dissatisfied with Sullivan's behavior, so he pushed Prince Ping to the stage to fight, and Prince Ping agreed with anger.

By the time of the official competition, the audience was already crowded and crowded. After Wang Ziping stepped into the ring, he originally needed to say a few words to the audience under the arrangement of the foreign manager. But he had only just walked to the front desk, and suddenly a big man in the shape of a big man punched him. Fortunately, Wang Ziping was alert, and he dodged the cold fist in a flash, and before Prince Ping could turn around, the big man punched again. The prince saw that the other party did not talk about martial arts, so after dodging the second punch, he also unceremoniously raised his leg and kicked the other party to the ground. Then he jumped up again and punched the opponent in the back.

That night, Sullivan wrote a note for Prince Ping, saying that "the contract is invalid and the game is canceled", and threatens to fight him, not their people. When the prince saw Sullivan playing with him, he also returned a note, saying, "You don't play, I must play, and I won't give up until I win or lose." Sullivan saw that Prince Ping refused to give up, knowing that he had encountered a hard stubble, so he had to take the strong men with him and leave Shanghai in gray.

The defeat of the foreigners twice made the Chinese people all excited. Wang Ziping, the "beaten wood", actually relied on his superior martial arts to defeat the foreigners twice and win glory for the country. And he was not only praised by everyone as a "national hero", but also gained a firm foothold in the martial arts world.

(Elderly Prince Ping)

In 1928, after the establishment of the Central Guoshu Museum in Nanjing, the famous Sun Lutang was hired as the head of the Wudang Gate, and Wang Ziping was also hired as the head of the Shaolin Gate. For Sun Lutang's fame, Wang Ziping had long been thunderous, so after learning that he and himself were about to become colleagues, Wang Ziping openly issued a challenge to Sun Lutang, hoping to compete with him in martial arts.

Unexpectedly, Sun Lutang did not accept the offer at all, and directly resigned from the post of Wudang gate chief and left.

At that time, many people were quite disappointed in Sun Lutang's performance, believing that he was greedy for life and afraid of death, and wasted his reputation. So what did Sun Lutang really think at that time?

Some people analyzed that at that time, Sun Lutang was nearly seventy years old, and Prince Ping was only more than forty years old. Obviously, Sun Lutang's physical condition was not as good as That of Prince Ping. Coupled with the fact that Sun Lutang had already gained fame and fortune, even if he won the battle against Wang Ziping, he would not have more gains. But if he loses to Wang Ziping, it will be almost a self-smashing sign. Therefore, no matter what, Sun Lutang would not take Wang Ziping's move.

However, some people objected that Sun Lutang's martial arts were unfathomable, and he also defeated five Japanese martial arts masters with his own strength in the year of Hua Jia. Therefore, even if he was nearly seventy years old, his martial arts were very proficient, and he did not fear Prince Ping. He didn't fight with the prince only because he didn't want to mess with him. Besides, the same as the head of the Guoshu Museum, if you have to fight to win or lose, it will not look good in front of the students. Therefore, Sun Lutang would rather endure and resign than fight this fight. It can be seen from here that Sun Lutang's cultivation is higher than That of Prince Ping.

After liberation, because Wang Ziping was very successful in the martial arts career, the state not only attached great importance to him, but also gave him a high honor. He has served as vice chairman of the National Wushu Association and member of the National Wrestling Association. In addition, in order to promote martial arts, he also served as a coach of the martial arts major of the Sports Academy, and trained many martial arts talents for the country. It has made outstanding contributions to the development of martial arts in China.
