In 1989, following the development of Shenlong Creek in Padang, the Qingjiang River in Enshi Prefecture was successfully flowing. In 1990, the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office arranged for foreign experts in Wuhan to travel to Enshi on "May Day Labor Day". On the 1st, we arrived at enshi Qingjiang River by plane; on the 2nd, we went to Lichuan to visit Tenglong Cave; on the 3rd, we went to Modao to visit Metasequoia and Yumu Village, and then went to Wanxian Yangtze River Cruise Ship to rest. On the 4th, I saw the Yangtze River Qutang Gorge and Wuxia to Badong to visit Shenlong Creek, then through Xiling Gorge to Gezhouba Power Station, and returned to Wuhan from Yichang on the 5th for a "five-day tour".

The Enshi Prefecture People's Government attaches great importance to this activity, and on April 20, Deputy Secretary General Sun of the State Government, Deputy Director Mao of the State Public Security Bureau, and Deputy Director Yu of the State Foreign Affairs Office were sent to Lichuan to set a fixed point for the field mining of Tenglong Cave, Modao Metasequoia trees, and Yumu Village. At this time, I have been transferred to the office of the municipal people's congress, and Gan Liyou, the new director of the government office, asked me to complete this reception task and then report to the people's congress. I also attended the whole event of this reception. Gan Liyou, Wang Xiaohuai, and I accompanied Deputy Secretary-General Sun to Yumu village, where the spring rain was endless that day, and the sky was not beautiful. The trolley dropped us off at the lawn and walked 1 km down the path to Yumu Village. Xiang The village chief was familiar with me because Director Wang Xiaohuai had been there several times, and after leading us to collect some points, he had lunch at his house and then came down from Sanyang Pass.
After the spring rain, the stone mountain road is quite slippery. Along the way, carrying a wooden stick carefully down, it was difficult to go down to Jitougou, opposite the new highway, the bridge has not yet been erected, the sharp knife stream is breathless, it is impossible to wade to the other side. I had to walk along the winding mountain road of the West Mountain, but I encountered a major danger in the middle of the way, and the top of the West Mountain was slowly moving down the mountain due to a mudslide caused by the landslide due to a long spring rain. We had to race against the clock to get through this dangerous section before the mudslide had slipped down, and once the mudslide closed the road, we had to retreat and climb the mountain back to Yumu Village. At this moment, I can only take the risk and worry about crossing the danger. Walked about 5 km mountain road. I first rushed to Sulakou and let the car travel along the Luotian Highway for about 1 kilometer before I picked up the leaders and drove back to the city. Later, after hearing that Deputy Secretary-General Sun returned to the state government, he planned to cancel the trip of foreign guests to Yumu village. Zheng Niehua argued on the basis of reason at the meeting, and the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office also hoped that foreign guests could see a unique scenic spot, and still determined the Yumu Village.
On May 2, the leaders of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office Secretariat and the Expert Office accompanied foreign friends to Lichuan in 2 Iveco buses, and stayed at the Tenglong Hotel that night after the tourism activities in TenglongDong. At noon on this day, Wang Xiaohuai took two cadres from the Municipal Tourism Bureau and Pu Yaofu, secretary of the Moudao District CPC Committee, to Yumuzhai to hold a mass meeting to arrange the reception work. Early the next morning, the women of the family were making large rice balls to prepare for foreign guests. After breakfast on May 3, the tour group set off to visit the Metasequoia tree in Moudao Town, and the foreign guests looked up and took photos around the world's first cedar. At this time, the sky suddenly began to drizzle, and the deputy secretary-general of the state government, Sun, who was accompanying him, thought of the scene at the last time he collected the spot, and explained to the leaders of the provincial foreign affairs office the danger and difficulty of the mountain road in Yumuzhai, afraid of accidents between the elderly and female foreign guests. The leaders of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office put the safety of foreign guests first, and immediately decided to cancel the itinerary of Yumuzhai. Therefore, I went to the district office and asked them to send someone to Yumu Village to inform the foreign guests not to go. The tour group then departs from Wanxian along the old line 318 National Highway.
The car stopped and rested at Sulakou Road, at this time the rain was getting heavier and denser, and the leaders of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office informed the foreign guests to cancel the trip to YumuZhai due to weather reasons. Standing in the stone parapet of Sulakou Daoban, which is located on a steep cliff, the foreign guests looked and took photos in the direction of the steaming misty Yumu Village, expressing regret at the cancellation of the Yumu Village. When the villagers of Yumuzhai learned that foreign guests did not arrive at Yumuzhai, this was a violation of the Tujia family's rules of treating people and receiving guests, and was regarded as the most unruly behavior.
A villager surnamed Tan was so angry that he lifted a basin of tangyuan powder and threw it on the ground at once, and people vented their anger on Director Wang and the staff, thanks to Secretary Pu Yaofu for calming down the scene and doing persuasion work. Even if the Municipal Tourism Bureau bears all the losses and invites the villagers to eat tangyuan, the villagers still have a knot in their hearts. Although the foreign guests did not go to Yumu Village on May Day, this activity made Yumu Village famous. The Yumu Village declared by the Municipal Cultural Management Office has achieved great results, and was announced as a cultural relics protection unit in Hubei Province in 1992.
