In order to preserve precious historical data, in 2010, the China Association for Science and Technology took the lead and jointly launched the academic growth data collection project of old scientists (hereinafter referred to as the "collection project") in conjunction with a number of departments. Up to now, nearly 600 old scientists have been collected and collected, and a large number of manuscripts, letters, audio and video materials have been obtained, many of which have important historical value.
"Participating in the collection project, I was always touched by the excellent character of the older generation of scientists." The patriotic spirit of embracing the motherland and serving the people is no longer a blunt slogan in my heart, but has become a responsibility and consciousness. Zen Xiaoli, a professor-level senior engineer at the Institute of Petrochemical Sciences, recalled.
Zen Xiaoli is a student of Lu Wanzhen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a famous analytical chemist and petrochemical chemist in China. In 2011, he participated in the collection project and undertook the task of recording the academic growth data of his mentor. He and his team consulted a large number of historical materials on the development of petroleum analysis disciplines and technologies in China. "After understanding the ins and outs of my discipline, I have a deeper understanding of the contributions of the older generation of scientists."
Xu Minmin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a member of the wheat genetics and breeding scientist Liu Dajun's collection engineering team, made her unforgettable when doing the collection work: "One day it rained so much that we thought Mr. Liu Dajun could not come to our interview, but he arrived at the agreed office on time, the shoes were wet, but I was late for a while, which made me ashamed and deeply touched by Mr. Liu Dajun's seriousness and trustworthiness." ”
According to reports, the collection work has been started for more than 10 years, and more than 3,000 people have participated in it. Some of them are young graduate students, some are the backbone of the scientific research of the unit, and some are still the heads of the units. Regardless of their status and age, they all said that completing the collection work is their responsibility and obligation, as well as an opportunity to learn and grow, and they are grateful for such an unforgettable experience. In the future work, we must pass on the stories and spirit of the older generation of scientists.
