Keigo Higashino's "Malice": "I just look at you unfavorably", which is enough to push a person into the abyss

"Malice" is the third book I have read by Keigo Higashino. Compared with the famous "Relief Grocery Store" and "White Night", its popularity is not enough. However, this novel, submerged in the brilliance of Keigo Higashino's other famous works, brought me the greatest shock. I have always marveled at the ability of Japanese writers to portray human nature, and this feeling reaches its peak when reading this book.

Keigo Higashino's "Malice": "I just look at you unfavorably", which is enough to push a person into the abyss

You have a grudge against him in your heart, and this hatred is so deep that even you cannot explain it. It was it that led to this case. Where does this malice come from? I have investigated very carefully, but I really cannot find any logical reason. What a state of mind! Even if you are arrested, you are not afraid, even if you gamble on your life, you must achieve your goal. It's an amazing idea, it's simply unheard of.

When I saw two-thirds of it, I thought that there would be a story written later in the book, and this story about the murder of the best-selling author should end like this: Mr. Noguchi chose to murder because he had an affair with the best-selling author Mr. Hidaka, and was threatened by Hidaka to be his shadow writer (surrogate). It wasn't until the last page that the murderer's motives for killing were understood.

"I just don't like you", enough to push a person into the abyss.

"I just hate you, obviously you are my closest friend, obviously you are so kind, obviously you know my obscene past and help me keep it a secret, obviously you have been helping me realize my ideals, but I just hate you." 」 I hate you for preempting my ideals, I hate your superior life, I hate that you who I despised so much now have a bright future. I also hate my own cowardice, I hate my own lack of luck, I hate myself for getting cancer before I can succeed. I gave you all my hatred for myself, all to hate you. Then before I die, kill you. Let you go to hell with the name of the world. After you die, I will continue to hate you. ”

Jealousy is like a bottomless cave, pitch black, once stepped into, it is an abyss, never recoverable, this is jealousy. Jealousy can make people break out in a cold sweat. Jealousy can make Yang Xiu die because of chicken ribs; it can make Pang Juan die in shame; it can make Han Xin die with hatred. The twisted psychology brought about by jealousy is expressed to the extreme in this book.

And seeing the ending, what makes people really chill is not just the real malice of the murderer, but asking themselves? Who doesn't have such malice? That kind of jealousy distorts the psychology, the psychologically distorted human heart, and the human heart distorts the behavior, and ultimately changes a person's life and the happy life of a family.

Hate does not know what to do, but it goes deep into the bone marrow, which is the coldest human nature. Some people are hated for a lifetime, and some people are defeated by hate. Some people say that love gives me strength, and hate can do the same. Whether it is good intentions or malicious intentions, it makes us realize that human nature is so complex, so complex that I would rather destroy myself than destroy you. You and I are all mortals in the flesh, so why is the attachment so deep? Only by distinguishing between good intentions and malicious intentions can we get rid of the dark situation.

In "Malice", the author shows us the malice behind human nature through layers of reasoning, and also reflects some social problems from the side, such as campus violence, which is still a cruel problem to this day. Another example is family education, we all know how important the impact of family education on a person is, and the words and deeds of parents always affect children invisibly. Noguchi's mother once expressed disdain for Hidaka in front of him, and then Noguchi's series of behaviors against Hidaka, who said that it was not necessarily caused by family education in his youth? In fact, no matter what stage we live in, we should have a sunny attitude, actively treat the people and things around us, be full of gratitude, full of hope, and strive to live this short life.
