Talking about ancient and modern times, digging deep into the history of Hebei that you don't know, hello everyone, I am "Qing Shi Jun", welcome to pay attention to the "Qing Shi Guan", every day to bring you fresh, interesting, dry goods full of historical stories.
Today, we talk for you about the story of Enzhou during the Northern Song Dynasty.

Portrait of Song Renzong
During the Northern Song Dynasty, there was an Enzhou at the junction of Hebei and Shandong, which belonged to Hebei East Road and was governed by Qinghe County in present-day Xingtai City, Hebei Province, and enzhou led to three counties: Qinghe, Wucheng and Liting. But before 1048, enzhou was called Bay State.
In 1047 AD, there was a garrison in the Qinghe area called xuanyi army, and one of the small colonels was called Wang Ze. Wang Zeqi was a native of Zhuozhou, Hebei Province, who was originally a shepherd and later joined the army, and was promoted to a small colonel and a low-ranking officer in the Northern Song Army. The officer was not at all at ease, and he organized private tandems of soldiers, intending to take advantage of the lax defense on New Year's Day 1048.
However, because of the leak, he had to raise an army at the winter solstice of 1047 and arrest Zhang Deyi of Zhizhou. He announced the establishment of a new regime with the name of Anyang, and he was elected king of Dongping Commandery and established as Desheng. At that time, there was a Grand Canal along the coast of Beizhou, and it was not far from the Song-Liao border, and such an uprising endangered border security, and if the rebel army succeeded, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Emperor Renzong of Song sent Wen Yanbo and others to suppress them. After all, this rebel army was small and most of them were forced to participate in the war without firm faith, and in 1048 the uprising was put down, and the leader of the rebel army was arrested and sent to tokyo city to be dismembered.
That is, in 1048, the imperial court changed the name of Bei Prefecture to Enzhou. One of the theories is that the imperial court's move was intended to warn those soldiers who participated in the uprising, and that the court arrested and killed the leader Wang Ze but spared them death, which was a great "favor", so the place name was changed to commemorate the incident, which was also a deterrent and warning to all the soldiers who were eager to move, warning them not to do such behavior again.

As a result, because of a Hebei native, Beizhou, located at the junction of Shandong and Hebei, was changed to Enzhou.
Around 1116 AD, due to the flooding of the Yellow River, the original Enzhou administrative center was moved to the area of present-day Wucheng County, Shandong Province. During the reign of Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang, Enzhou was demoted to En County. This county existed until the early years of the founding of New China. Later, due to the adjustment of the divisions of Hebei and Shandong, Enxian was abolished, and the original jurisdictional area was divided into three counties: Pingyuan, Xiajin and Wucheng.
The Ming Dynasty novelist Luo Guanzhong later created the "Biography of the Three Sui Ping Demons" based on the events of Wang Ze's rebellion. This book is extremely defamatory of the rebel army, describing the leader of the rebel army as a demon. Although the values of this book are not worth advocating, the language dialogue in it is easy to understand and still has a certain literary value. The book was originally only fragmented 20 times, and later added to 40 times by Feng Menglong of the late Ming Dynasty. Needless to say, Luo Guanzhong was the author of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, while Feng Menglong created the famous "Three Words" novel collection.
