The reporter saw that the diameter of these translucent jellyfish ranged from 1 cm to 2 cm, and the edge of the round umbrella jellyfish was almost all filamentous tentacles, and the filamentous tentacles could be clearly seen from the video taken, and the jellyfish could be seen moving in the water through tension. The staff of the Antiman Tourism Eco-Resort told reporters that when colleagues inspected the outdoor camp in the morning, they found a layer of suspected jellyfish aquatic creatures floating on the surface of the ornamental pond.
Subsequently, aquatic experts from the Dujiangyan Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau carefully observed and identified the jellyfish in the ornamental pond, and finally determined that the jellyfish was an extremely rare "peach blossom jellyfish". Zhang Pulong, senior engineer of aquatic products of Dujiangyan Agriculture and Rural Bureau, introduced: "From its appearance, it is very much like a peach blossom petal when it is active, and according to the signs of the organisms we find every day, as well as the situation found from the previous times, it is determined that it is a peach blossom jellyfish." This also fully shows that the water quality of this place is relatively good, not polluted, especially suitable for the growth of peach blossom jellyfish. ”
Peach blossom jellyfish is a primitive and inferior invertebrate, is a endangered, ancient and rare coelenterate, has a history of at least 600 million years, known as the "giant panda in the water", is the only freshwater life of a small jellyfish, a world-class endangered species. At present, a total of 11 species of peach blossom jellyfish have been found in the world, except for the two kinds of Sox's peach blossom jellyfish and Japan's Ise peach blossom jellyfish, the remaining 9 species have been found in China. As a small jellyfish living in fresh water, peach blossom jellyfish has extremely high requirements for the water environment, and the waters suitable for its survival must be non-toxic, harmless, clean, and mostly acidic. Only when the water environment is good, the water quality is appropriate, and the ecological balance is balanced, the figure of peach blossom jellyfish is occasionally found. Aquatic experts remind the general public that the cute appearance of "peach blossom jellyfish" is very cute, but it can only be viewed from a distance and cannot be touched.
Peach blossom jellyfish were found in the Antiman Tourism Eco-Resort, attracting many foreign tourists to come and watch. It also gave a vivid nature lesson to the children who were participating in the summer camp activities here.
And Dujiangyan has found peach blossom jellyfish is not the first time. According to records, Sichuan peach blossom jellyfish were found in Guanxian (now Dujiangyan City) in 1984; a large number of peach blossom jellyfish were found in Chengqing Lake in Liujie Town in 2014; and peach blossom jellyfish were found in Lotus Lake in July 2019. After a year, Dujiangyan City once again found peach blossom jellyfish, so frequent "appearance" also reflects the long-term excellence of Dujiangyan City's water environment.
