Ryan's alley does say something. It follows in the footsteps of old Ryan and conveys a surprising cultural flavor. For example, Shuixin Street, located in the south of the old city, is an ancient street and alley that maintains its historical style. It is a representative of grassroots Ryan, and some well-preserved old houses record the real living environment in unchanged shape.
Shuixin Street is named Shuixin Street because Song Baowenge scholar Ye is suitable to live here. Ye Shi (1150-1223), also known as Mr. Shuixin, was born in Shuixin Street. At the age of 13, he moved with his father to the outskirts of Wenzhou, and Song Chunxi took the examination of the ceremonial department in the fifth year (1178), and the court was on the list. He advocated resisting the gold and suffered dismissal. In the first year of Jiading (1208), Ye Shi resigned as a scholar of Baowenge and the title of Zhengyi Dafu, and devoted himself to writing and lecturing, and was a master of the Yongjia School, and the History of Song was passed down, and he was one of the ten outstanding historical figures of Ruian.
Shuixin Street was formerly known as Shetan Bridge Street, because there is a Shetan Bridge in the street. In the 1960s and 1970s, it was once called Jianshe South Road. In 1981, the original name of Shuixin Street was restored. Shuixin Street is a small street under the South City, running east-west, starting from Huitou Street in the west, communicating with South Post and Telecommunications Road, and connecting with Nandi Street in the east to Huiwenli and Nandi Street, with a length of about 300 meters and a width of about 4 meters. The north section of the road leads to Mingxin Lane, Xuzhai Lane and Wenxin Lane, and Nantong Chengnan Lane and Hengtangqiao Lane.
At that time, Shuixin Street belonged to South River North Street, and half of it was a river. The river bends east from the Wangxian Bridge River of the West River, crosses the Tongji Bridge and the Shetan Bridge, nestles in the small road of Shuixin Street, and flows through the gang bank and the river port until the Nandi Street meets the East River. The embankment is flanked by a patchwork of green brick and tile houses, old-fashioned carved wooden window ledges meandering along with the river, and boats on the surface of the water shuttle under the small bridge, slicing the shadows of the bridge reflected on the water, and making ripples. Because the river is not wide, the water waves often flood the river port, startling the laundry women on the port with cheerful screams. It was a freehand picture of the splashed ink township, which made many people stop and stare, imagining that it was jiangnan in their dreams.
However, Shuixin Street, like other old streets and alleys, cannot escape the impact of urban construction on it. In 1983, the river was blocked and widened into a road, and the small bridge over the river could not escape the fate of being demolished. Pillow River people's homes, small bridges, river ports, this frozen hundreds of years of unchanged picture, gradually blurred out, the current Shuixin Street has no longer the past as the quiet scenery.

There are also old mansions with eaves in the deep alleys, and wooden bungalows facing the street. This may be the charm that Shuixin Street cannot dissolve.

In this old street that is not famous, there is a heavy humanistic connotation lurking, the cultural context is long, there are many elites, and there are generations of people. Among them, Xu Songnian's former residence is the most lamentable.
Xu Songnian's former residence is located at 24 Shuixin Street. The former residence was built in the first year of the Qing Dynasty (1821), is a brick and wood structure of the three-entry mansion, with exquisite and delicate wood carvings, elegant and generous entrance hall; there are ingenious structure, high and wide and arrogant flower hall; there is exquisite workmanship, delicate and gorgeous main house. The structural design of the former residence and the art of wood carving have to make people admire the superb skills of the skilled craftsmen.
Xu Songnian (1767-1827), the character Rong Jun, the number of Leshan. At the age of seventeen, he was admitted to the school with the first place, the township examination at the age of twenty, the fifth place in the Zhongwu Keju, and the twenty-two-year-old who joined the army and entered the camp. In the military struggle to eliminate the Annam (Vietnamese) liukou, maintain the stability of the sea frontier, recover Taiwan, protect Kinmen and Xiamen, and crack down on the opium smuggling activities of British foreign ships, he repeatedly accomplished miraculous feats, so he was sent from the general staff, the general staff, and the general soldier to the Fujian Admiralty. Together with Li Changgeng, Wang Delu and Qiu Lianggong, he was known as the four famous generals of the Qingdongnan Water Division, and his historical relics were included in the "Draft History of the Qing Dynasty". Although Xu Songnian was a military general, he was good at making friends with Wen Mo, and had close contacts with Lin Zexu and others, and sometimes exchanged letters. Lin Zexu once gave Xu Songnian's "Tianma Fu" four paintings, which are now preserved in the Ruian Museum.

Located at No. 18 Shuixin Street on the east side of Xu Songnian's former residence, is the former residence of Xu Dachu. Xu Dachu (1896-1970), Zida, studied at zhejiang private law and politics school. He is good at traditional Chinese medicine and gynecology. He has been practicing medicine for more than 50 years and is famous in Ruicheng. Not only is his medical skills well-known in southern Zhejiang, but he is also proficient in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and is listed as one of the top ten talents of Ruian in the Republic of China period.
Xu Songnian's former residence is a relatively typical small courtyard building, built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, consisting of a doorway, two side boxes, the main house, the left and right Xuan rooms, and the front and rear patios. The street-facing roof-style doorway is simple and elegant, and the soaring ridges at both ends of the roof and the towering wok-ear sealed fire wall on the wall of the box form a sense of hierarchy and rhythmic beauty of the space. The main house has five rooms and is a two-storey building with a porch eaves. The decoration inside the eaves is also very exquisite, the exquisite front porch Luo Pot Rafters, five steps outside the two jumping bucket arch. The main house has a box room and a rear room at the front and back. It is a courtyard-style house with local characteristics.
On the west side of Xu Songnian's former residence is Xu Zhai Lane, and Xu Zhai Lane is north through Shenming Pavilion Lane. Because Xu Songnian built the first here, it was named Xu Zhai Lane. No. 1 Xu zhai lane is the old residence of Mr. Xu Shizheng, who has been engaged in biology and agriculture teaching all his life. This old mansion is also a small courtyard building, the same traditional doorway, the same front and rear patios, the difference is that one side of the lattice hanging instead of the Mingjian forehead, Lang Xuan made a chessboard top algae well, which is more iconic and elegant.

Further west, you will reach No. 28 Shuixin Street, which is the former residence of Chen Jutan. Chen Jutan (1816-1885, Yizuo 1887), name Runzi. With Sun Yiyan to supplement the county student staff, but because the article is not in line with the eight shares of fashion, 30 years have not been born. Specializes in astronomy and mathematics.
Chen Jutan's student Lin Qiumei did his best to learn mathematics and science, and was once the director of the Ruian Academy. The Chen clan is the Shuxiang Mendi of Shuixin Street, with many talents, and three generations of grandchildren are celebrities. The eldest son, Chen Fan (1865-1920), was a Qing Dynasty Qing who was elected as a tribute in the twenty-third year of the Qing Dynasty (1897). In 1900, he acted as the curator of the Shui On Academy.
Chen Jutan's granddaughter Chen Xuewei (1914-2013), originally known as Trace. In her early years, Chen Xuewei studied Chinese painting of flowers and birds with Jin Zuohao, studied calligraphy from Zou Meng, and graduated from Shanghai Fine Arts College. He has held painting exhibitions in Lanzhou with Guan Shanyue and Lin Fengmian. In the 1980s, he sent three paintings, including "Roselle", to Reagan to congratulate him on winning the presidency of the United States. He was invited by Reagan to the United States to attend his presidential inauguration. In the 1986 and 1990s, he held exhibitions at the Natural Science Museum in Bafallow and the Science Museum in New York City, USA. In 1994, on his 80th birthday, he received a congratulatory letter from Clinton, congratulated him on his 50th birthday with a gift of "Song Eagle Chart", and was invited to attend Clinton's inauguration ceremony. In the United States, he actively participated in social activities against "independence" and promoted reunification. In 2005, Chen Xuewei donated 69 works of her life's work to her hometown, which are now in the Ruian Museum. In 1974, the Ruian County Workers' Hospital (Labor Health Station) moved into his former residence. Since then, the former residence has been renovated and rebuilt many times, and it has been completely unrecognizable.

Shuixin Street has a Guangji Temple dedicated to the King of Guangji, also known as the Water Temple, because it is located in Shuixin Street, so the locals are used to call it the Shuixin Temple. Guangji Temple was built in the 20th year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1681), rebuilt during the Qing Guangxu period, and rebuilt in the 10th year of the Republic of China. According to Cao Rui's "Records of guangji temple": the temple god surname Lin Ming Sanyi, the character Youzhi, was born in the Song Xining period, made meritorious contributions to the society, did good things for the people, and was posthumously crowned as the king of Guangji, worshipped as a god, and established a temple for spring and autumn sacrifices. According to the Jiaqing period, Ruian instructed Huang Zhengqi in the article "Records of the Guangji Temple in the Heart of Water": "There is a temple in the altar of the society, the south pillow pheasant, and the north belt clear stream. Dong Yu is revered, honest and serious, and makes people enter the temple to be respected. It can be seen from this that the Guangji Temple of that year was bordered by the city wall in the south and the river in the north, and the building was magnificent and solemn, and the scene of the ancient Guangji Temple can be imagined.
The Ruian County Chamber of Commerce also borrowed the Shuixin Temple as the venue. The Chamber of Commerce was established in the 30th year of Guangxu (1904) and was established in July of the following year, with Sun Yirang and Wang Yuesong as prime ministers. The original site of the meeting was in Wenchang Pavilion, which was restored after a period of interruption during the Beiyang government of the Republic of China, and the meeting site was moved to Shuixin Street, and the Chamber of Commerce Auditorium was built in the Shuixin Temple, and the Chamber of Commerce Office was built on the east side of the temple. The Chamber of Commerce handles matters commissioned by the government, accepts affairs that occur within the merchants, and plays a bridging role between the government and the merchants.
Along the way, you will always see some high courtyard walls and archway-style old doorways, which are very exquisitely made. The gate platform of No. 64 Shuixin Street is one of the best, a brick masonry imitation wooden archway building, with exquisite brick carved bucket arches on the lintel, and a moon beam-shaped forehead with blue glass embedded between the arches. The outer skimming wall on both sides of the door platform is also the essence of the platform door, and the rectangular plaque frame of the outer skimming wall is very exquisite, and the small frame is made of embossed plastic drama scenes, and the large frame drawer is carved with a brick to make a beautiful lattice window. Almost all the building materials of the gate are completed with green bricks, especially the bucket arches, moon beams, and rafters are carved with bricks, and the image is vivid and realistic, which not only avoids stereotyped and sluggish imitation, but also smooths out the real and delicate classical rhythm.
Shuixin Street has always been a dense residential area in the old city, and the citizens living here have been living in a quiet environment and living a peaceful and tranquil life until around the 1960s, when many enterprises and institutions were settled here. Most of these units are mainly reconstructed from the original houses, Ruian Workers' Hospital, the hospital site is in Chen Jutan's old residence; Ruian Leather Products Factory, the factory site is in Hu Ruzhou's residence; Chengguan Hemp Weaving Factory, the factory site is in Xu Songnian's former residence; Ruian Automobile Parts Factory, the factory site is at No. 42 Shuixin Street; as well as the county labor service company, Ruian City Technical School, and the vegetable processing plant built on the open space under the south city. The settlement of these units has made the quiet streets and alleys lively a lot, and there are more office workers on the streets, which has added a lot of vitality to the ancient streets and alleys.
