There were many strategists around Chiang Kai-shek who made great contributions to his fight against the country, and although one of them was not famous, he was considered by many to be the "first strategist of the Republic of China", and this person was He Chengjun.

He Chengjun was born in a wealthy merchant family, so he was sent to the Zhenwu Academy in Japan early in the morning to study, in Japan he met Chiang Kai-shek, at this time Chiang Kai-shek was still his apprentice, Chiang Kai-shek followed Sun Yat-sen, He Chengjun followed Huang Xing. However, after Huang Xing's death, He Chengjun began to follow Sun Yat-sen, wandering before various warlords, and using his iron mouth to let Sun Yat-sen, who had never had military power, have the right to speak in the Chinese revolution.
He Chengjun's seniority is very deep, he also served as the first chief of staff of the Nationalist government, but He Chengjun is more like a figure of Zhang Lili, not good at leading soldiers to fight, he suffered a big loss in the Northern Expedition, and was transferred back by Chiang Kai-shek to continue to serve as a staff officer.
When the Northern Expeditionary Army hit Jinan, the Japanese created the tragic "Jinan Massacre". During the negotiations, the Chinese side was subjected to all kinds of difficulties by the Japanese side. At first, the Chinese negotiator was Xiong Shihui, but the Japanese did not talk to him at all, and in the end Chiang Kai-shek could only use He Chengjun. He Chengjun did not eat hard and soft in the course of the negotiations, neither losing the dignity of the Nationalist government nor provoking the Japanese, and was praised by Chiang Kai-shek.
It was easier to deal with warlords, and He Chengjun knew what every warlord liked and feared. In the "Jiang-Gui War", He Chengjun persuaded Li Mingrui, Yang Tenghui, and He Jian to defect, which directly led to the final defeat of Li Zongren and Bai Chongxi.
During the Central Plains War, He Chengjun directly pulled a train of silver dollars to the battlefield and bribed many of Feng Yuxiang's subordinates, so that Feng Yuxiang could not pose a threat to Chiang Kai-shek in the Central Plains War.
In the face of Zhang Xueliang, He Chengjun is even more at ease. He knew that Zhang Xueliang loved to play, so he accompanied Zhang Xueliang every day to spend days and nights drinking, and waited until he was full of fun before talking about Yi Zhi, Zhang Xueliang was on his head, and directly acquiesced.
Why Did He Chengjun, who had made great contributions to Chiang Kai-shek, become obscure, mainly because he had offended Chiang Kai-shek during the Xi'an Incident. Thinking that Chiang Kai-shek was doomed this time, he openly supported He Yingqin in replacing Chiang Kai-shek. Therefore, after the peaceful settlement of the Xi'an Incident, he was immediately hidden by Chiang Kai-shek, and even his past achievements were diluted.
In 1949, when He Chengjun saw that the Kuomintang building was about to fall, he could not be reused by Chiang Kai-shek, so he simply went to Hong Kong. Later, with the help of old friends, he went to Taiwan and spent the rest of his life in Taiwan.
