This is an earlier recapitulation of old photographs and texts from the 50s to 70s and 1980s in Shifang. Shigu Town was formed in 2006 by the merger of Yunxi and Minzhu towns.
Yunxi Town is most famous for its smoking. According to articles written by the Shifang Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the 1980s, Zhang Zongfa, the author of the Agricultural Book "Three Rural Records", was a native of Yunxi (present-day Shigu Town), but the Agricultural Book did not see tobacco, and tobacco was introduced when Ji Dakui was serving as Shifangzhi County from 1906 to 1812. According to several articles of the Shifang County Tobacco Company in the 1980s, in the twenty-third year of the Qing Dynasty (1897), two places including Shifang Yunxi Maoba were of exceptional quality and became tributes until the Qing Xuantong stepped down.
There is not much information that can be found in The Democratic Town, and today Liu Canglong, a director of Hongda Group, worked in the oil mill of the Democratic Commune in 1979, and later started a business with colleagues.

In recent years, the staff and workers of supply and marketing cooperatives at all levels in Shifang County have changed the business style of "waiting for customers to come to the door" and put the work of supplying pesticides on production.
Whenever crop diseases and insect pests occur, the cadres of the supply and marketing cooperatives are active in the fields, conduct investigations and studies, mobilize the masses to actively prevent and control crop diseases and insect pests, and teach the masses the techniques for preventing and controlling insect pests, so as to achieve the implementation of "selling pesticides, passing on technology, and seeing results", thus promoting the development of agricultural production in the county. The crowd enthusiastically called them "crop doctors."
The Department of Production Materials of the Supply and Marketing Cooperatives of Yunxi District, Shifang County, set up a propaganda booth for the prevention and control of crop diseases and insect pests when rushing to the market, used various physical specimens to publicize the harm of crop diseases and insects to the peasants, and taught the masses the techniques of pesticide treatment and disease prevention on the spot.
