Today is the birthday of Academician Wong Ka Si (July 14, 1906 – May 14, 1984). He is one of the founders of cardiothoracic surgery and biological engineering in China. He established the first thoracic surgery specialist hospital in China, Shanghai Chest Hospital; when he was commissioned to create the first eight-year medical university in China, Capital Medical University, in less than half a year, the first batch of 8-year medical students were enrolled.
