In the folk tales of the Three Kingdoms, the contrast between famous generals in various countries is always the most popular topic for the common people. In particular, the comparison between Cao Wei's five sons, Shu Han's Five Tiger Generals, and Jiangdong's Twelve Tiger Ministers. People often ask: Why is Tai Shi Ci, a fierce general of Eastern Wu able to fight a draw with Sun Ce, not among the Twelve Tiger Lords of Jiangdong? Today we will talk about the story of the Twelve Tigers of Jiangdong and Tai Shi Ci.
<h1>One, five sons of liang and five tiger generals</h1>
In fact, there is no such thing as the Five Sons and the Five Tiger Generals in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, this is just the result of Chen Shou writing several people with fame, achievements, titles, etc. into a biography at the same time, and the result of the novelist's summary and refinement.
Cao Wei's five sons, Zhang Liao, Le Jin, Yu Ban, Zhang Guo, and Xu Huang, were the five most famous and distinguished generals with foreign surnames who followed Cao Cao in fighting the world.
These five people were evaluated by Chen Shou in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms - Book of Wei" as: the good general of the time, the five sons first. Therefore, he is called "five sons of good generals" by novelists.
The Five Tiger Generals of the Shu Han Dynasty, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Ma Chao, Huang Zhong, and Zhao Yun, were also the followers of the Dragon who followed Liu Bei to fight the world.
Guan Yu and Zhang Fei followed Liu Bei as Liu Bei's soldiers; Zhao Yun was first under Gongsun Zhan and later followed Liu Bei; Huang Zhong was Liu Bei's subordinate and was not valued. After Jingzhou was occupied by Cao Cao, he became a Changsha garrison appointed by Cao Cao, and he did not use it again. When Liu Bei occupied Changsha, Huang Zhong was able to show his prominence, and the Battle of Dingjun Mountain killed Xiahou Yuan. Ma Chao was once a prince of the party, and surrendered to Liu Bei after the defeat of the army.
The above ten people were basically active from the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the early Three Kingdoms period, and can be regarded as heroes of equal strength in the same period, many of whom were rivals to each other and fought in the battlefield.
<h1>2. The Twelve Tigers of Jiangdong</h1>
The Twelve Tiger Ministers of Jiangdong are nominally more numerous than the Five Sons and The Five Tiger Generals combined, but in fact the Twelve Tigers are not generals of the same period, and can be roughly divided into three stages.
The origin of the Twelve Tiger Ministers of Jiangdong is that Chen Shou put all twelve warrior generals of Eastern Wu in a biography in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms - Book of Wu. They are: Cheng Pu, Huang Gai, Han Dang, Jiang Qin, Zhou Tai, Chen Wu, Dong Xian, Gan Ning, Ling Tong, Xu Sheng, Pan Zhang, and Ding Feng.
These twelve tiger ministers Zhongcheng Pu, Huang Gai, and Han Dang were all former ministers of the Three Dynasties who followed Sun Jian to raise troops; they can be regarded as veteran generals of the Eastern Wu Sun Jian period, and Hao Jie, who had fought with Dong Zhuo, Lü Bu and others, was the first stage.
Jiang Qin, Zhou Tai, Chen Wu, and Dong Xun were good men who followed Sun Ce to fight in all directions, of which Zhou Tai had always been responsible for defending the young Sun Quan and was deeply trusted by Sun Quan; Chen Wu died at the hands of Zhang Liao during the Battle of Xiaoyaojin; and Dong Raid died in a capsizing accident when Cao Cao attacked Shukou.
Gan Ning was the only general among the Twelve Tiger Lords, Gan Ning was once a subordinate of Liu Biao, but was not reused because of his Jinfan thief origins; later followed Huang Zu, and even killed Ling Tong's father Ling Cao in the battle, but he was still not reused. Later, he surrendered to Sun Quan and became a fierce general in Jiangdong, which was deeply welcomed by Sun Quan.
These five soldiers who followed Sun Ce to raise troops and made great achievements in occupying Jiangdong, opposing Cao Cao, and stopping Guan Yu, can be said to be the famous generals of Eastern Wu in the second stage.
As for Ling Tong, Xu Sheng, Pan Zhang, and Ding Feng, they were all generals who emerged only in the later period of Sun Quan. Ling Tong protected Sun Quan after Xiao Yaojin fought to the death, and finally fled back alone; Xu Sheng performed well against Cao Pi and Liu Bei; Pan Zhang was famous for capturing Guan Yu's father and son; Ding Feng was the youngest, and in the early days he followed Generals such as Gan Ning, Lu Xun, and Pan Zhang, and did not shine until Sun Liang succeeded to the throne.
These can be said to be famous generals in the middle and late period of Eastern Wu, and they are heroes who belong to the third stage.
<h1>3. Tai Shi Ci</h1>
Tai Shi Ci's status in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is much higher than that of the twelve tiger ministers mentioned above.
First of all, Tai Shi Ci was also once a prince of the party. In the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Tai Shi Ci and Liu Sui and Shi Xie are in a biography, Liu Xiu and Shi Xie are both princes of the same side, and Tai Shi Ci was a subordinate who had been Liu Sui, and after Liu Sui's death, it was also Tai Shi Ci who took over Liu Sui's subordinates.
Secondly, Tai Shi Ci and Sun Ce have a great relationship. Tai Shi Ci and Sun Ce once had a dragon and tiger fight, and there was no difference between victory and defeat. After Tai Shi Ci was defeated and captured by Sun Ce, the two felt even more sorry for each other, and Sun Ce said that Tai Shi Ci said: "Although Tai Shi Zi Yi is brave and courageous, he is not a person who is horizontal. His heart is a man, a man of morality, a noble promise, a confidant with his will, and death is not negative. ”
We don't know what Sun Ce and Tai Shi Ci talked about, but anyway, the two of them have risen to the level of confidants and deaths. This was a situation that the Twelve Tigers of Jiangdong, as generals with troops, were far from being able to reach.
In fact, we can also boldly guess that Sun Ce and Tai Shi Ci must have talked about the revival of the Han Room, and Sun Ce and Tai Shi Ci should not have the idea of separating one side, but like the young Cao Cao, they wanted to pacify the world and restore the Han Room. Why the guess? Wu wrote to Tai Shi Ci before his death: "When a husband is born, he should bring a three-foot sword to ascend to the rank of the Son of Heaven." If you don't follow your wishes now, why die!"
Everyone pays attention to the "step of ascending to the heavenly son", the literal translation of this sentence is, "Help the Han Dynasty Heavenly Son, let him stand on a higher step." To put it more bluntly, "We can't let Emperor Xian of Han be a puppet anymore, we must restore the prosperity of the Han Dynasty in the era of Emperor Wudi of Han and Emperor Guangwu!" Only such a great idea would make Tai Shi Ci, who was known for his loyalty and righteousness, follow Sun Cegan with an iron heart, and even before he died, he would issue a roar of hatred that he could not ascend to the rank of the Son of Heaven.
It is precisely because of such a relationship between Tai Shi Ci and Sun Ce that although Tai Shi Ci died of illness in Jian'an in 6 years, his status was still far higher than that of the Twelve Tiger Ministers of Jiangdong.
<h1>In addition, the image of Tai Shi Ci in other film and television dramas and games is wrong. </h1>
Tai Shi Ci is a rare "beautiful beard" in historical records, that is, a long beard like Guan Gong, rather than a small white face common in film and television dramas;
Moreover, in addition to the recorded hand-wrenching skill, Tai Shi Ci's archery skills are even more unique, and such a small story is recorded in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms:
Another time Sun Ce and Tai Shi Ci went to beg for thieves, a thief stood at the city gate and scolded, it is estimated that the scolding is very ugly, and Sun Ce's subordinates can not scold, but far away and take each other can not do anything, seeing that the morale has dropped by half.
At this time, Tai Shi Ci came out of the horse, just when the other party was tired, his hand was holding the pillar, Tai Shi Ci gently stretched the ape's arm, and nailed the thief's hand to the pillar with an arrow. The tens of thousands of people who were watching at that time were full of praise.
