Ji Gong (1130 or 1148–1209), commonly known as Li Xiuyuan (李修遠), courtesy name Huyin (胡隐), was a native of Yongning Village, Tiantai , Taizhou ( present-day Tiantai County , Zhejiang Province ) . A high monk of the Southern Song Dynasty, posterity was honored as "Jigong Living Buddha".

Guoqing Temple became a monk, and later lived in Hangzhou Lingyin Temple, and then lived in Jingci Temple. Unconstrained by the precepts, fond of alcohol and meat, and acting like crazy, he was a learned monk with good deeds and virtues, and was listed as the fiftieth ancestor of Zen Buddhism and the sixth ancestor of the Yang qi sect. He is the author of 10 volumes of "Quotations of Guanfeng" and many poems, mainly included in the "Chronicle of Jingci Temple" and "Taishan Fanxiang".
Ji Gong knew chinese medicine and cured many difficult diseases for the people. He likes to fight injustice, stop people's slander, and save people's lives. His virtues of helping the needy, eliminating violence and safety, and showing good and punishing evil have left a unique and beautiful impression in people's minds.
In 2006, the "Legend of Jigong" was listed as one of the first national intangible cultural heritage lists. In 2012, "The Legend of Jigong" won the "Folk Tale with Most Regional Characteristics in Zhejiang".
