On the morning of August 3, the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government held the 100th press conference on epidemic prevention and control, reporting on the situation of a new locally confirmed case in Shanghai on August 2.

Li Guohua, deputy mayor of Pudong New Area, introduced that the new case was a cargo aircraft service worker outside the Cargo Area of Pudong Airport, male, 53 years old, professional as a driver, and his residence was Huaxia Second Road Xinyuan Xiyuan Community in Chuansha New Town. On July 21 and 28, a routine nucleic acid test was conducted, and both times the results were negative.

In addition to the workplace and place of residence, the case visited the Workers' and Peasants' Hotel (No. 8-10, Qiaojia Lane) and Yonghe Dawang (Miaojing Road Store). After overnight investigation, 52 close contacts and 6 family members were screened, all of whom were in the city, all of whom implemented isolation and control, and the first nucleic acid test results were negative. There were 250 close contacts, and the first nucleic acid test results were negative.

Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, introduced that from the current circulation situation, the patient has not left Shanghai in the past two weeks and has no travel history. So far, no association has been found in the case with cases in other parts of the country.

Zhang Wenhong, head of the Shanghai New Crown Pneumonia Clinical Treatment Expert Group, introduced that as an airport employee, the new cases have been vaccinated. At present, none of the close contacts of this local case in Shanghai have been positive.

If adequately vaccinated, the rate of transmission of the virus will be significantly slowed. The vaccination rate at Shanghai airport has reached 100%, and there is enough confidence to slow down the transmission speed.

Shanghai was upgraded to a medium-risk area

Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, introduced that after research, it was decided that the Xiyuan Community of Lane 1500, Huaxia Second Road, Chuansha New Town, would be designated as a medium-risk area.
