On October 24, the Best Male and Female Athletes of the Tokyo Olympic Games, selected by the National Olympic Federation (ANOC), were announced.

Canadian swimmer McNeil was named the best female athlete at the Tokyo Olympics. McNeil came to the scene to receive the award and give a testimonial.

McNeil won a total of one gold medal and two relay medals at the Tokyo Olympics, and her 100m butterfly gold medal was the first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in Canada, when Zhang Yufei was runner-up.

Australian swimmer McGuin won seven medals, making him the most medalist at the Olympics. McNeil is ranked 8th in the swimmers medal table.

Marathon runner Kipchoge was voted the best male athlete and he won the men's marathon title at the Olympic Games.

McNeill, a college student, competed in several backstroke and butterfly competitions at the Swimming World Cup in early October, and eventually won the gold medal in the women's 100m butterfly, which was 55.30 seconds (25m pool).

It has been reported that McNeil was born in Jiangxi and was adopted by a Canadian couple.

The National Olympic Federation (ANOC), made up of 206 National Olympic Committees recognized by the International Olympic Committee, has awarded various ANOC awards since 2014, with Sjöström having been named Europe's best female athlete in 2017.
