【Global Network Report】How effective has the construction and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area been in the past four years? Roles, positioning, motivation... In what way is Hong Kong integrated into the Greater Bay Area? On the evening of May 10, Bai Yansong interviewed Carrie Lam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, in the "News 1+1" program.

Bai Yansong: Many friends in the mainland are paying attention to the epidemic prevention situation in Hong Kong, and now the situation is very good, and very good (epidemic prevention) results have been achieved, but now that the mainland (people) want to go to (Hong Kong), there is a 14-day quarantine, is it not long before the mainland compatriots go to Hong Kong again without these 14 days of isolation, and is it still far to travel freely? Will Hong Kong soon open up to the world?

Carrie Lam: First of all, recently we have controlled the epidemic very well. In fact, for more than half a month, there is only one local case without a source, the imported cases cannot be avoided, and there are some imported cases in the mainland every day, but we strictly prevent these imported cases from entering the community, so there are very strict quarantine arrangements.

For the mainland, the mainland is very well controlled. Is recoverable. The first thing we are restoring is to allow Hong Kong residents to return to Hong Kong from the mainland without quarantine. Since the launch of our new "Easy Return to Hong Kong" scheme, 150,000 Hong Kong residents have returned from the mainland without quarantine or quarantine. Soon, I hope that this month, may, we will launch a similar plan - "Lai Hong Kong Easy", "Lai Hong Kong Easy" people are non-Hong Kong residents, then welcome friends in the mainland, including foreigners living and working in the mainland can also use this plan.

The reason we can't open up in large quantities is that the carrying capacity of our ports is limited. Since the epidemic, we have closed many land ports, and now the customs clearance requirements are very large, but also quarantine, whether there is nucleic acid testing and Guangdong Kang code. So now we can receive about five or six thousand people a day, so whether it is "Easy to Come to Hong Kong" or "Easy to Return to Hong Kong", we need to register online and get a quota to come. I hope that with the further strict control of the epidemic in Hong Kong, we can return to relatively normal people-to-people exchanges.
