The power of the ship is on the sail, and the power of man is in the heart. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his important speech at the conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, "Faith, faith, and confidence are of paramount importance at all times... Whether in the past, at present or in the future, faith in Marxism, faith in socialism with Chinese characteristics, and confidence in realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation are all powerful spiritual forces that guide and support the people of Chinese to stand up, get rich, and become strong. This has profoundly pointed out the strong spiritual support and source of motivation for the whole party and the people of the whole country on the way forward. Pursuing history and facing the future, our faith, faith and confidence are indestructible.

Our faith, conviction and confidence come from the great achievements made in the past 40 years of reform and opening up. The facts are the most convincing. 178 years ago, China was poor and weak, and the people were not happy; 69 years ago, China was poor and white, and everything was wasted; 40 years ago, China was economically backward and lacked food and clothing; today's China has become the world's second largest economy, the largest manufacturing country, the largest country in goods trade, the second largest country in commodity consumption, and the second largest country in foreign capital inflows. Since the Opium War, the Chinese people have won one historic victory after another in their unremitting struggle for national independence and for the country's prosperity and strength, especially the world-renowned achievements made by the Chinese people in the journey of becoming rich and strong in the past 40 years of reform and opening up, which have fully proved the correctness of the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the scientific nature of Marxism, the truth of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the reality of the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Where people are, what they see with their eyes, and what they hear with their ears must always be internalized into what their brains think and what their hearts are attached to. Over the past 40 years, whether it is a vertical historical comparison or a horizontal international comparison, whether it is the tremendous changes in the appearance of the country and the people's life, or the remarkable improvement of international status and national dignity, countless vivid facts have greatly strengthened the faith, conviction and confidence of all the Chinese people with irrefutable force.

Our faith, conviction and confidence come from the valuable experience accumulated in the past 40 years of reform and opening up. Achievements are condensed into history, and experience guides the future. Comrade Mao Zedong said, "I eat by summing up experience," and being good at summing up experience is an important tradition of our party. At the beginning of reform and opening up, because there was no precedent, many reform measures had to start from scratch and explore while doing, and many people held a wait-and-see and hesitant attitude toward reform. Today, the valuable experience of the "nine must persists" that the party has led the people to struggle, create, and accumulate in the past 40 years of reform and opening up has filled us with a strong theoretical and practical foundation and is our precious spiritual wealth. With these "nine must adhere to", on the road ahead, we will certainly be able to achieve strong political leadership, scientific guidance of theory, correct direction of progress, strong momentum for endeavor, steady pace of reform, scientific development methods, strong institutional guarantees, and optimization of the international environment, and our cause will certainly be invincible.

Our faith, conviction and confidence come from the long and splendid Chinese civilization. Yangyang Huaxia, majestic Jiuzhou, 5,000 years of Chinese civilization long river flowing slowly. Over the past few thousand years, the land of China has experienced many hardships and crises, but the great Chinese nation has created the only splendid civilization in human history that has not been interrupted by the spirit of reform and openness of "Tianxingjian, gentlemen with self-improvement" and "terrain Kun, gentlemen carrying things with great virtue". History enlightens the future, and history makes us firmly move towards the future. The far-reaching historical origins and profound cultural roots have given us the most basic, deepest and most lasting strength to forge ahead and realize our dreams. No matter what kind of risks and challenges and terrifying waves we encounter on the future journey, we cannot stop the pace of our progress. As a country as big as ours, we should have ambitions; a nation as great as ours will certainly be able to realize the great dream of rejuvenation.

Great dreams are not something that can be waited for or shouted, but something that can be spelled out and done.
