When it comes to the largest creature on Earth, many people should think of whales at the first time. In some novels or television, we may see this kind of plot, that is, the protagonist is swallowed by the whale, and finally the whale squirts out or even cuts the whale's stomach to escape.
Is this really possible in reality?
In the United States, there was a case in Avila Beach, California, where a group of kayakers were watching whales, sliding leisurely on the surface of the sea, and there were constantly circling seabirds in the sky, which showed that there were schools of fish gathered under the water.
The way whales eat is to swallow a large number of small fish with water in one bite, so they believe that they will soon see whales eating. Unexpectedly, however, the water below them suddenly swelled, and a whale rushed out and swallowed the two female kayakers and their kayaks directly into their mouths, which must have frightened them. However, the whale was also very uncomfortable with the "foreign body" entering the mouth, so it quickly spat out with the kayak, and the two survived.
So if the whales don't spit them out, is there any other way for them to escape?
First of all, it is the humpback whale that swallows them, this type of whale hunt is relatively simple, mainly eating krill and small fish, opening a large mouth to swallow a large amount of seawater, while expanding the throat and abdomen fold to increase the volume in the mouth, and then closing the mouth to squeeze, a large amount of seawater is discharged from the whale's whiskers, but the food can be blocked in the mouth.
Humpback whales can "eat" their mouths at an angle of more than 90 degrees and reach a cross-diameter of 4.5 meters, so it is easy to swallow several people at a time.
But humpback whales can't actually "eat" even if they swallow people in their mouths, because their esophagus is so small that they can't swallow people into their stomachs. That's why the whale spits out people again, because it really can't digest it.
But these two people are also lucky, because even if they are not swallowed, the huge tongue in the mouth of the whale may directly crush the person to death, such as the largest blue whale, whose tongue weight may be equivalent to the weight of an Asian elephant. Once pressed on the human body, I am afraid it is easy to turn into meat sauce.
On the one hand, people are prone to suffocation because of the lack of oxygen, let alone cut out an escape channel with a knife; in addition, the whale will suck in a lot of water at once, which is enough to choke a normal person to death, and the whole person will be very uncomfortable, or even completely lose his mind, it is difficult to use weapons to break through the skin and flesh of the whale from the body like in the novel.
