As we all know, Jamaican "lightning" Bolt is the fastest man in human history, and from the perspective of career dominance time, Jamaican female trapeze Fraser may be even greater. She has been on the podium at three Olympic Games in 2008, 2012 and 2016, and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the mother athlete remained the strongest contender for the women's 100m gold medal.
Four-time women's 100m World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser Price said she believes she can beat the younger generation at the Tokyo Olympics and win the gold medal. Last September, Fraser, then 33, won the World Championships in Doha, becoming the oldest woman to win a gold medal in the 100m at the World Championships or the Olympic Games. Previously, in order to give birth to her son, Zyon, she left the sports world for two years.
"I absolutely believe it's possible, given the recovery and improvement time I've had this year," the Jamaican said. "I left the stadium for family reasons and that time actually gave me the opportunity to refocus my mind on what I wanted to achieve, and I will continue to stick with it and I am definitely looking forward to participating in the Olympic Games for the fourth time."
Fraser won gold in the 100m at both the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics, while at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics he finished bronze behind compatriot Elaine Thompson and U.S. Player Tory Bowie. Compared with the Olympic Games, Fraser's World Championship record is more brilliant, winning a total of 9 gold medals.
Fraser also confirmed that in addition to the 100 meters, she intends to compete in the women's 200 meters at the Tokyo Olympics. Briton Tina Asher-Smith, 24, won the gold medal in the event at the World Championships in Doha.
"Last year's plan was to fight on a two-front basis, but my coach decided to give up one first, considering I had just come back shortly," Fraser added. "So, this year I'm going to compete in the 100m and 200m, and my team is working in that direction." In 2017, 10 weeks after the baby was born, Fraser began training, but after a caesarean section, she had to use a special strap to stabilize her abdomen.
