A day earlier, the 20-year-old Jiangxi girl successfully defended her title in the women's under-57 kg competition of the 2019 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Championship Series in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, defeating The British star and two-time Olympic champion Jed Jones.

  The World Taekwondo Grand Slam Championship Series was founded in 2017 and is held annually, with a Grand Slam points system that is completely independent of Olympic points, and in each Olympic cycle, the top players in the Grand Slam rankings of each level qualify for the Olympic Games. Since 2017, Zhou Lijun has advanced to the final of the taekwondo Grand Slam women's sub-57 kg for three consecutive years, and this year is also her second duel with Jed Jones, and this year's result is the same as last year, Zhou Lijun won again.

  In this way, Zhou Lijun ended the first cycle of taekwondo Grand Slam series with two consecutive championships and a silver medal to accumulate points in the world, and qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games. It is reported that this will be Zhou Lijun's first Olympic trip.

  At the age of 9, Zhou Lijun was transported from Xinchang, Yifeng County, to the Jiangxi Provincial Sports School to carry out taekwondo training, and then went to Beijing Sport University to train. In November 2016, at the World Junior Championships in Taekwondo, Canada, Zhou Lijun, who participated in the world-class competition for the first time, won the women's taekwondo 55 kg championship and began to emerge. In the 2017 and 2018 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Championship Series, she won the second place and the championship in the under-57 kg class, respectively.
