In September of last year, it was reported that Jason Bateman was expected to participate in and direct a new version of "The Mysterious Quest". According to new sources, Bateman will not direct the film. Currently, James Burbin is in talks with the producer about directing the film.

However, it is likely that the producer replaced Jason Bateman as a good choice, after all, James Burbin does not have many works that can be done. One of his most recent films is the underage film Dora: The Vanishing Golden City. Previously, his main focus was on children's films and dramas. This remake of "Magic Quest" is also a new attempt for him.

The original "Mysterious Detective" was filmed in 1985 and is one of the few ending films of this era. The story tells of a manor owner who invited six guests to the manor, and when the guests arrived, the manor's housekeeper was waiting to receive them, and the manor owner arrived later. The guests then introduce each other to each other. Later the host gave each guest different weapons, such as candlesticks, ropes, lead pipes, wrenches, knives, etc., and the host turned off the lights. When they turned on the light again, the owner had already been killed!

Six guests began searching the manor to find out if a seventh mysterious visitor had hidden in the house and killed the owner. During the search, others visited the manor one after another and were killed. The housekeeper came up with the method of the murderer's crime, and then led everyone to peel back the cocoon and recreate the incident in order. What makes this movie special is that it has three different endings, and different theaters only broadcast specific endings, and if you want to see all three endings, you must go to different theaters to see the whole movie.

Whether the new version of "Mysterious Detective" will retain the plot of multiple endings is still unknown.
