Medium stature, dark skin, and not much to say, this is the first impression left by Yang Mingzhen, the commander of the Suining naval gun squad of a certain detachment of the Southern Theater Navy. However, the crew who was familiar with him told this writer not to look at him who usually did not talk much, and once he stepped into the gun position, he would become gushing and meticulous. Recently, the author came to a certain frigate detachment of the Navy in the Southern Theater and met this "sharpshooter" who dreamed of deep blue.
That year was the second year of victory in the fight against SARS, and the streets and alleys still sang the touching stories of the vast number of medical workers who were not afraid of hardships and were willing to dedicate. Yang Mingzhen, who studied at a health school in Guangxi, was infected by the spirit of medical workers and aspired to become an excellent medical worker.

During an exchange with the teacher, they inadvertently talked about conscription, and the teacher said to him: "The medical workers are great, they have saved countless lives, and equally great is our people's children and soldiers, who are also silently guarding our people." This sentence stirred up the layers of waves in Yang Mingzhen's heart, joining the army to serve the country, supreme glory! From that moment on, he made a wish: He must sign up for the army!
In 2007, he was selected from the Wei School to become a gunner in the People's Navy. At that time, his unit was stationed on a remote island, living conditions were harsh, eating and bathing were on the deck, the cabin was hot and humid in the summer, the gun battle position was unobstructed, and the scorching sun tanned his skin...
His hard sweat flowed on the gun position, behind the crosshairs was his persistent eyes, and every part of the equipment had traces of his careful care... In this way, he participated in many exercises and was rated as an "excellent soldier" several times.
Observe the lookout
In 2016, Yang Mingzhen was transferred to the gun squad leader of a new type of ship, and as the first gun squad leader of the first ship of the unit, he was both excited and very nervous. The new naval gun weapon system not only involves mechanical structure and electrical equipment, but also advanced radar and photoelectric systems, how to adjust the secret position, set the number of shots, adjust the firing elevation angle... It's all a lot more complicated than previous equipment.
"New ships, new equipment, new professions, can I learn to use the weapons in my hands well?" In the face of the huge pressure brought about by the first responsibility, he is not timid - no experience, let's explore the experience ourselves! He started from scratch, then became a new recruit, worked overtime to study day and night, traveled to Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi and other places to participate in field training, and humbly asked manufacturers and institute experts for advice. During the training at the factory, he endured the harsh noise, the dust and the pungent smell of paint every day, carefully explored the mechanical structure on the battlefield, and drew the equipment structure drawings little by little and remembered them in his heart.
Troubleshoot
One point of hard work, one harvest. Soon, Yang Mingzhen became a technical master in the eyes of the soldiers and an all-rounder in the eyes of the leaders -- he knew all the performance parameters of the naval guns well, he had several family treasures in the mechanical structure of the equipment, he could smoothly eliminate all kinds of sudden faults, and even the officers and men of the brother units knew that he was capable and hard.
In a contest, the Suining ship represented the detachment. As the participating ships with the shortest entry time, they have neither completed the full training examination nor any competition experience, and the whole ship has no bottom from top to bottom. But Yang Mingzhen always had a strong momentum in his heart, he thought, seeing the red flag always has to carry a shoulder, there is always a first to fight, without a "forever strive for the first" heart, how can we build a powerful navy that can win the battle? "Fire!" On the day of the competition, with the commander's order, he decisively pressed the "Launch" button, and the shell roared out of the chamber, hit the target, and finally achieved the first place result.

In another exercise, Yang Mingzhen had just returned from other ships to assist in the removal of obstacles, and before he could take a breather, he was pulled to the battle position. At this time, there was already a circle of people around him, and the soldiers saw him and said eagerly, "Squad leader, the bomb machine can't be combined with the ammunition supply, we still haven't done it for half a day." This is about to be cannonballed, and it is a quick death. Yang Mingzhen went forward to try, only to see him roll up his sleeve and hold the handle, let the comrade start the hydraulic device, pull the wrench with a little force at the same time, and combine the bomb supply device of the bomb machine. The comrade-in-arms around him was puzzled, he explained: "Hydraulics and manual coordination are skilled. He lowered his sleeve and said proudly, "I know the 'temper' of this cannon very well, I trust it, and it trusts me." Since then, everyone has called him the ship gun "Divine Doctor".
Over the past ten years since joining the army, Yang Mingzhen has been rated as "Excellent Non-Commissioned Officer" many times because of his outstanding ability and excellent technology, and has been awarded the third class merit twice, and has trained more than ten naval gun professional experts for the unit, and some have served as the backbone of the naval gun squad leader in other ships. "Where is the 'sharpshooter', I just did what I should do." Yang Mingzhen said.
