Claiming to be India's most expensive film, the film, which cost rs.1,750 million (about 169.75 million yuan) to produce, tells the story of brothers Baahubali (Parabas Prabhas) and Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati) competing for the throne in the mahishmathi kingdom. Sanger (Rohini) and her husband save a drowning baby, but they don't know where the baby came from or the fate they face. The child grows up and is named Shivudu (Parabas Prabhas), who is eager to explore the mountains and discovers his bloodline roots, eventually realizing the ideals he will strive for all his life and facing the mighty Bhallala Deva (Rana.
