On the evening of July 23, in the original drama "New West Chamber" directed by Ding Yiteng, Wang Xinyu incarnated as Cui Ruoying, a girl, and her yearning for freedom pushed her to break through the shackles of her family and explain to the audience the self-consciousness and emotional concepts of contemporary Chinese youth. Before the performance, Wang Xinyu gave an exclusive interview to the cover reporter, telling her understanding of drama performance and her interpretation of the character of Cui Ruoying.
Opera "meets" drama, bringing a new experience of combining Chinese and Western
The drama "New West Chamber" is an original drama written by Ding Yiteng and Chen Miao, directed by Ding Yiteng, and is also the first time that young drama creator Ding Yiteng challenged the "love" topic and reinterpreted the "new program" work of the ancient Chinese love legend "West Chamber".
The play tells the story of Ruo Hong who was adopted by her aunt Cui Ma since she was a child, and is in love with Ruo Ying, the daughter of Cui Ma. Wang Xinyu: First of all, we must look at the theme, not to say that any theme can be grafted in this way, the theme of "New West Chamber" is based on the traditional opera "West Chamber", and it also integrates a lot of modern elements, as well as some of the director's personal experience and perception, which is compatible with the stylization of opera and the emotional authenticity of drama. Wang Xinyu: In fact, "New West Chamber" has given Cui Ruoying some thinking of many modern people, and she is no longer simply like the image of a well-behaved woman created in the opera, in order to seek her own happiness, through the help of the red lady (Ruo Hong), she bravely broke through the family imprisonment.
