Tropical Cyclone Eloise will make landfall in southern Africa

According to South African media reports on January 23, local time, tropical cyclone Eloise will land in the Mozambican port city of Beira in the next few days, followed by attacks in South Africa's Limpopo Province, KwaZulu Province and Pumalanga Province and parts of Zimbabwe. The next two or three days will cause torrential rains and flooding in the above-mentioned areas.

The South African Meteorological Service reported that the cyclone was moving southwest at a speed of 24 km/h, with a maximum wind of 120 km/h at the center of the cyclone and gradually strengthening. Pumalanga is the region where South Africa's national power company is located at its main power station, so South African Power said it is working with South Africa's central and provincial disaster management centers to reduce future losses.

In March 2019, Hurricane Idai also made landfall in the Mozambican port city of Beira, eventually causing massive damage to Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, killing nearly a thousand people. The visit to Eloise has strained coastal residents in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Many residents expressed concern that the government would be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and that the national treasury would eventually be unable to cope with the disaster.
