Proshenko has competed in three Olympic Games, winning two golds and two silvers – the men's singles champion at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the team title at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and the runner-up in men's singles at both Salt Lake City in 2002 and Vancouver in 2010. He also won the Men's Singles World Championships in 2001, 2003 and 2004 and won the European Championship seven times.
