On the other side of the cloud, the whole picture of the world is different, people who grow up in different environments will not lose their identification with their own environment because of different environments, even if people living in slums, in their eyes, in addition to continuing to live seriously, have not realized the inconvenience of poverty, so they will not envy wealth and be satisfied with the status quo, and because of this, the world has maintained a group of different communities of life.
India's up-and-coming director M. Manikandan synthesizes several real-life experiences to complete the film Crow's Egg (Taiwanese translation: Taste of Pizza), which uses the perspective of children in the slums to dig deep into a country that has moved toward democracy, but the human heart class is still stuck in the absurd and conservative snobbish world without any signs of breaking free. The film is named "The Crow's Egg" from the English language, you can smell the hints that the content wants to express, the director deliberately touches the entrenched decay values of the social system, and speaks out for the poor and the weak of the caste class, the attempt is very obvious.
The story begins with a family living in a slum in Chennai, where a pair of naïve little brothers make a wish for a pizza, feed themselves, and try to earn money in every way they can. In order to bail out her imprisoned husband, the mother is busy everywhere, doing her best to earn the high fees of the lawyer, and the brothers and mother abide by the mythical dogma of confession, silently drive themselves, want to achieve their wishes, do not rely on charity, as long as they continue to work hard to make enough money, they will eventually get satisfactory results.
However, they ignore the rules of the game in real society, not the hard-working people can get good results, the brothers have saved enough money, can not eat pizza as desired, and the mother's hard-earned money, will never be enough to pay the blood-eating lawyer's repeated demands, in the face of duty to abide by the "end of persistence", in exchange for not a perfect ending, but a never-ending unknown beginning, this kind of unequal treatment of birth, teach people how to be unbearable.
When the brothers and the mother are both in a desperate situation, perhaps it is a joke arrangement of fate, the development of the continued situation exceeded expectations, the brothers were at the door of the pizzeria, the brother suffered from the slap and humiliation of caste class and poverty discrimination, was filmed by the neighbor's children with mobile phones, and then the media broke the news that the special line was purchased and broadcast and the whole country was shocked, the, politicians, consortiums, police circles, the media, and public opinion forces each took what they needed, intervening, and finally, the brothers and mothers' wishes were comically solved, and the husband was released. The brothers were also welcomed into the pizza hall like shining stars and were able to enjoy pizza for life.
The scenes of the whole film are realistic and the passages are meticulous. The characters, the inner twists are portrayed naturally and unambiguously. In addition to highlighting the caste class, discriminating against the elements of poverty and injustice, and ridiculing politicians as a mouthpiece for the people, the foundation is actually built in the hypocrisy of occupying the reputation and insatiable greed, while the media, celebrities embrace care and expose the truth, and they also stand behind the commercial hype behind the ratings. In addition, pointing out the issue of globalization impacting local culture, when introducing foreign cultures to globalization, whether it should be more careful, the last scene of the film, the brothers excitedly bite down on the pizza, the brother asked the younger brother with a suspicious face: "Do you think this thing is delicious?" The younger brother responded with a chewing bitter expression: "It's so unpalatable!" Or Grandma's scones are more delicious, right? "The trend of globalization should be balanced with local cultures in order to mitigate future risks.
After watching "Two Children's Pizza", I have to praise the director for reversing the audience's stereotype of Bollywood's dazzling song and dance formula, embedding a narrative technique with strong meaning, and handling the original heavy theme so humorously and movingly, which is a fresh, smooth and funny warm sketch worth savoring.
