After the end of Netflix's multiple Marvel superhero series, Marvel Studios has gradually regained the rights to these heroic characters. But how Marvel will arrange these characters to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe MCU series is unknown — including the darker and more violent anti-hero characters: "The Punisher" Frank Castle.
However, the star Thomas Jane, who played the role in the 2004 film The Punisher, spoke up: he expressed his intention to direct a Frank casso-themed film starring Joe Boenser, an actor in the Netflix film version of The Punisher.

The "Punisher" Frank Casso in marvel comics does not have superpowers like other superheroes, born in the United States Navy and Army, in order to avenge the death of his wife and children, after resorting to the law, he decided to resort to force in his own way to kill, cold-blooded and cruel, but he is also the owner of a strong will.
Thomas Jane, who can direct the film, has been active in Hollywood for 30 years, acting in several films, directing the thriller horror film "Dark Country" in 2009 and most recently directing one episode of the science fiction series "The Expanse." In a recent interview, asked if he had a chance to return to the role of Frank Caso, he replied:
"It should be a matter for the fans. If the fans really want to see me come back to the show and we manage to find the script.... Listen, I don't think the Punisher, nor the short film I've played, has yet to show the most loyal side of Frank Casso's character. And I really like Joe Bornser's performance in the Netflix albums. I think he's a very good sanctioner actor. In fact, I'd love to direct a Punisher movie starring John Bernese because he's really a pretty good actor."

Joe Bornser plays the episode version of the Sanctioner, who first appeared in the second season of the Netflix series Daredevil, before jumping to the lead role and starring in the "Punisher" independent album, but unfortunately only two seasons were produced, and the series was cancelled in February 2019. Marvel Studios will officially take back the rights to the character in February next year, which means that the sanctioners will have a chance to return to the MCU, but it is uncertain whether Marvel Studios will re-cast.

Recently, Marvel Studio has continuously pushed MCU-related film works to Disney's streaming video platform Disney+, but in terms of the relatively dark and violent "Punisher", Marvel Studio seems to have to find another way to make this character appear in the MCU.
Thomas Jane also said he would be happy to return to the role if circumstances permitted, but he also hoped that the new Punisher film would continue to adopt a darker style.
"In 2004 we couldn't make a dark-style Punisher movie because the producers didn't believe it would be a success, even if fans were happy to see it. But after the success of dark-style works such as "Black Pickets" and "The Dark Knight", which were launched after "The Punisher", the filmmakers also gradually realized that dark-style works can also attract a certain audience.
Frank Casso can bring a story like taxi driver, but no one has done it so far, and I'd be happy to try it. But at the same time, we must also move the film in the direction that the sanctioners are willing to go."
Thomas Jane said.
Are you looking forward to seeing the "faithful to the original" "Punisher" film and drama work reappear in the jianghu? Hopefully, Thomas Jayne's words will stir up more splashes and make this dark and realistic alternative hero reappear.
