Tang Poems and Exam | 35: The Enchanting Spring Light of March, Enchanted by the Lovely Poet

One day a long time ago, Yan Wei, a famous scholar of the Tang Dynasty who was traveling abroad, stayed in a small government-run hotel (postal kiosk). On the wall of this small hotel, Yan Wei saw a few poems of someone scribbling. Under careful reading, Yan Wei couldn't help but be attracted by the heroic momentum in these poems. So he asked the hotel staff who wrote these poems. The hotel staff replied that it was a small child named Zhang Bayuan who lived near the hotel who wrote it carelessly, which made the adults laugh. When Yan Wei heard this, he couldn't help but be surprised, so he went to find Zhang Bayuan specifically.

After the two met, the young Zhang Bayuan was not humble and profane, and his conversation was very decent, which made Yan Wei like it very much. Yan Wei asked Zhang Bayuan, "I see that your child is very talented, and there will definitely be a big surprise in the future." Would you like to be my student and learn to write poetry with me? Zhang Bayuan asked, "Who are you again, and why do I recognize you as a teacher?" When he knew that the person in front of him was the famous Yan Wei, Zhang Bayuan was overjoyed: "You are the famous Mr. Yan, and being able to be your student is something I can't ask for, so I implore Mr. Yan to wait a moment." After saying that, he turned around and ran, making Yan Wei confused.

Just after a meal, Zhang Bayuan had already said goodbye to his family, packed up his simple luggage and package, and returned to Yan Wei: "Mr. Yan, we can now go out on the road." Zhang Bayuan's cleverness and strength made the well-informed Yan Wei stunned. Under the careful guidance of Yan Wei, in just a few years of kung fu, Zhang Bayuan learned the "poetry is exquisite", and people sent the ya number "Zhang Caizi".

"Jiangyuan went south to Yong, and Yedu temporarily maintained the end." Ancient hanging fish nets, empty forest dew bird nest. Snowy ridges, sand shallow waves. Self-laughing and mediatless people, everyone makes a mockery. "Zhang Bayuan's "Xin'an Jiang Xing" is quite powerful in writing scenes." The two sentences of "Snow and Sunny Ridges, Sand and Shallow Waves", were praised by later poetry critics as "the shape of the country and the mountains", which means that in describing the landscape of the landscape, it has reached a good state of divinity.

Zhang Bayuan (章八元), of the Fenshui (present-day Tonglu County, Zhejiang) clan, was a jinshi in the sixth year of the Gregorian calendar (771). After entering the priesthood and the first step, Zhang Bayuan passed the examination of the first subject system with the help of the famous poet Wei Yingwu. This Wei Yingwu is very interesting, in his early years he was a clumsy disciple who acted recklessly, but later he repented and studied hard, and he became a loyal and benevolent Confucian official, a poet and scribe with extraordinary achievements, and a model for the prodigal son to turn back to gold.

Since Wei Yingwu had never obtained the status of an imperial examination, it is not possible to introduce it in a separate article in this book. Here, we may wish to enjoy his famous work "Chuzhou Xijian": "Alone pity the grass stream, there are yellow orioles and deep trees singing." The spring tide brings rain to the evening, and the wild ferry has no one to cross itself. "This seven-piece song is a good lyrical work, and it is evocative to read." The spring tide brings rain and comes late, and the wild ferry has no one to cross itself" two sentences, which are famous sentences that have been passed down through the ages. "Wild ferry unmanned boat self-crossing" has become the artistic conception of many Danqing masters.

In the Tang Dynasty, after jinshi and the first, there was a custom of going to Ci'en Temple to write poems to commemorate the occasion, and Zhang Bayuan was no exception. At ci'en temple, Zhang Bayuan inscribed a poem like this: "Ten layers protrude in the void, and forty doors open to face the wind." But the strange bird flew flat on the ground, half a day since the astonishing words. The back ladder is like a hole, and the top is like a cage. The sunset is good and the city is full of spring trees and rain. This poem expresses the magnificent and tall momentum of Ci'en Temple in a subtle and ingenious way, "but the strange bird flies flat on the ground, and in the middle of the day, it is amazing."

Many years later, the great poets Bai Juyi and Yuan Shu, who had become great officials, visited Ci'en Temple together. They saw many of the doodles of jinshi in the temple, and they were not less artistic, and they couldn't help but be greatly disappointed, so they said to the staff, "These messy words are really harmful and pollute the vision." Quickly wipe them clean and stop being left here to be ashamed! When they saw Zhang Bayuan's inscription poem, Bai Juyi and Yuan Shu looked at each other and smiled, and invariably said, "They all say that they are famous teachers and high disciples, and this Zhang Bayuan is worthy of being a student of the famous scholar Yan Wei, so don't erase his poems." Therefore, this poem of Zhang Bayuan not only remained in the Ci'en Temple, but also in the history of poetry.

Zhang Bayuan was an official, and first held a role equivalent to that of the director of the office of the county government (Jurong Main Book). During his tenure in this position, Zhang Bayuan, who was arrogant and arrogant, did his own thing by speaking and doing things, and did not respect his superiors enough, which annoyed Han Di, who was a feudal official. In a fit of rage, Han Di asked him to bring Zhang Bayuan to justice and let him eat prison for a few years to reflect on his remorse.

Zhang Bayuan had a classmate named Yang Yuling, who was Han Di's son-in-law. Thanks to Yang Yuling's mediation, Zhang Bayuan was spared from prison. The reason why Zhang Bayuan's career is not smooth is probably related to this kind of personality. As a subordinate, even if you are talented, there is no need to easily offend your boss in this way. Later, Zhang Bayuan was transferred to Beijing and became a low-ranking civil servant in the central government organs (Xie Lu Lang, Zheng Ba Pin Shang), mainly responsible for the correction of music laws. The famous poet Wang Wei also held a similar position.

Although he was not respectful to his superiors, he always had gratitude and reverence for his mentor Yan Wei. "Yesterday, the master returned to the boat, and his home was in Tonglu to remember the old hill. When march is warm, the flowers bloom and the two streams compete for water. Recently heard the old folk language of Jiang, and saw the home mountain to reduce the sorrow of travel. Or in the middle of a drunken night snow, Huaixian should swim to the River. This long and affectionate "Guitonglu Former Residence Sent To Yan ChangShi" was specially written by Zhang Bayuan to Yan Wei.

Zhang Bayuan probably prefers the contents of the cup, and there is a less famous poet named Xiong Rudeng, who once wrote a very interesting poem for him, entitled "Giving Zhang Bayuan in the Spring Suburbs of Drunkenness": "March can be a few days, and a hundred times to add wine is not frequent." Seeing Jun lying down in the Yang flower, he felt that the spring light was intoxicating. "A lovely poet who is humble and intoxicated by the spring light of fine wine, vividly appears in front of the reader's eyes." A person's drunken state can write so literary and artistic style, this is Tang poetry.
