Xianning Red Travel Guide (Xian'an Chapter)

Don't forget your original intention to follow the party

In all historical periods of the new-democratic revolution, Southern Hubei has always been an important area for the CPC to lead the masses of the people in carrying out revolutionary struggle activities. In the early days of the founding of the Communist Party and during the Period of the Great Revolution, grass-roots party organizations of the Communist Party of China were successively established in various counties in southern Hunan Province, and the revolutionary movement of workers and peasants rose vigorously. During the period of the agrarian revolutionary war, the autumn harvest rebellion in southern Hunan fired the first shot of the national autumn harvest uprising, and successively established the first batch of county-level red regimes in the country, such as the Tongcheng County Labor and Peasants' Government, the Tongshan County Workers' and Peasants' Government Committee, and the Puxi County Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Government. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the anti-Japanese democratic base area in southern Hubei was an important part of the Eyu Border Region, during which a relatively independent Xiang'e-Gansu Border Region was built, which became the rear base for the Southward Detachment of the Eighth Route Army to advance into Xiangyue and return to the Central Plains. During the Liberation War, the underground Communist Party organization in southern Hunan mobilized the masses to wage a struggle against the Kuomintang reactionaries, collected enemy intelligence, transported military supplies, actively participated in the war, and cooperated with the People's Liberation Army in liberating the counties of southern Hunan. During the period of the new-democratic revolution, more than 300,000 revolutionary volunteers in southern Hunan (including Yangxin) successively sacrificed their precious lives, including 35 leading cadres at and above the prefectural and divisional levels, who made tremendous sacrifices for the victory of the new-democratic revolution and wrote a glorious page in the history of the Chinese revolution.

In order to carry forward the revolutionary spirit, inherit the red gene, and promote the study and education of party history, a number of revolutionary memorial sites in Xianning City are specially introduced for the vast number of party members and cadres, young people, and all sectors of society to study and pay respects.
