Sun Shao, born in August 1934, is a native of Yuncheng, Shanxi. He is a national first-class composer, the former director of the Shaanxi Radio and Television Chinese Orchestra, a member of the Chinese Musicians Association, an honorary director of the Chinese National Orchestra Society, and a winner of the Lifetime Award for Chinese National Music and Art. He is a librarian of Shaanxi Provincial Research Museum of Culture and History, and an adjunct professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Northwest University.

As an excellent composer, Sun Shao composed more than a thousand songs and pieces of music in his lifetime, including "All Come to Support the Agricultural Front", "Hand Picking Red Dates to Think of Relatives", "Yan'an Children's Hearts to Chairman Mao", "Millet Fragrant To The Warmth of The Earth Cave" and so on, which have a distinct artistic personality. The main instrumental works include "Bashan Love Song", "Banpo Girl", "Huazu Song" and so on. He has published "Selected Bowls and Bowls" and "Selected Songs of Sun Shao". His artistic achievements have been included in the Directory of Chinese Musicians, the Biography of Chinese Writers and Artists, the Who's Who in Contemporary Chinese Art, the Dictionary of Chinese Musicians, the Children of the Orient, and the Who's Who of the World.

During the epidemic period, he also cooperated with his wife Zhen Enfeng and the famous lyricist Dang Yong'an to complete songs such as "Wuhan Cherry Blossoms", "Fragrant Yellow Roses" and "Community Girl" praising anti-epidemic heroes.

Sun Shao is the old partner of the famous singer Zhen Enfeng, and on the artistic road of more than 60 years, the husband and wife have always been hand in hand and walking side by side. For years, the lifelong couple held hands tightly when they needed each other most. In 1982, Sun Shao's life was hanging in the balance due to gallbladder surgery, his heart stopped beating for 3 minutes, a full seven and a half hours of surgery, fear, anxiety and worry made Zhen Enfeng's dark hair turn gray overnight. In 2018, When Yun Enfeng was in a car accident, Sun Shao said in a letter to Zhen Enfeng, "Tomorrow (the fourteenth day of the 14th month) is your seventy-eighth birthday, and I wish you a happy birthday, health and longevity!"
