The permanent population of Jingdezhen is only a little more than 1.67 million, and the size of the urban area is not very large, most of the year like an elegant girl who has crossed from ancient times.
The unique ceramic culture enriches the cultural heritage of Jingdezhen, leaving a large number of tourist attractions for this beautiful small city, in addition to attracting Chinese tourists, there are also many foreign tourists who come to visit, and their interest in "ceramics" is no less than Chinese.
Among the many scenic spots in Jingdezhen, the ancient kiln folk customs expo area located in Panlonggang, Maple Mountain, Changjiang District, is one of my favorite, where I can watch and understand the process of ceramic making, and this kind of real panoramic display scenic spot is extremely rare in the world.
When you come to the ancient kiln folk customs expo area, the first thing you see is the statue of the kiln prodigy on the square.
Who is Tong Bin?
He was a god of trade worship in the jingdezhen ceramics industry, originally a native of the local village, born in the middle of the 16th century, and was a famous porcelain burning technician in the Ming Dynasty. During the Ming Dynasty, the eunuch Pan Xiang was ordered to Jingdezhen to supervise the construction of the big dragon jar, has not been successful, annoyed and angry Pan Xiang used various methods to force and mutilate the porcelain workers, hoping that the porcelain workers would burn the qualified dragon cylinders as soon as possible under duress to make themselves good friends, the technician Tong Bin, in order to show resistance, jumped into the kiln, was burned to death by the raging fire, did not expect that everyone opened the kiln the next day, and found that the dragon cylinder miraculously fired successfully. The porcelain workers were overjoyed, but also hurt for Tong Bin. In honor of this upright hero, the locals built a temple of wind and fire for him and called him the "Wind and Fire Immortal".
The main attractions of the Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln Folk Customs Expo Area include the ancient kiln exhibition area, the ceramic folklore exhibition area and the waterfront front street creative rest area. The architecture of the scenic spot is simple and elegant Huipai style, and strolling through the classical garden is like walking through.
During the half-day trip, we visited most of the attractions, and what impressed me more was the porcelain workshop, small works and large pieces.
Porcelain workshops, also known as "billet houses", are places where porcelain tires and underglaze paintings are made, where you can learn all about the main procedures of ceramic production. The process of ceramic production is very complicated, and each process has a clear division of labor, including kneading mud, digging blank, pulling blank, sharp billet, painting blank, glazing, etc., each of which strives for excellence and highlights the spirit of craftsmanship.
Most of the "craftsmen" in the ancient kiln folk customs expo area are non-hereditary people, have rich experience in ceramic craftsmanship, and through their hands, each work is a fine product.
Friends told me that I had always thought that the patterns on the ceramics were printed, and now I know that the patterns on the precious ceramics are actually painted, and the layering, delicacy and artistic sense of these pattern lines are incomparable to ordinary ceramic products. Also ceramics, jingdezhen's ceramic art is higher than most places, which is an artistic pursuit passed down for thousands of years and determined by the temperament of the city.

The small utensils in the expo area are mainly used for the production of daily ceramics, including bowls, cups, cups, plates, etc., and large pieces of work are used to produce large plates, large bottles, large cylinders and other large-scale display items, the production of these works is very difficult, and the finished products are generally placed in the main corners of the relatively spacious hall.
Leaving the ancient kiln folk museum area, we tasted the famous local Yilong porcelain feast in the city, and after the meal, we set off for Taoxi River.
