According to the Hong Kong Wenhui Network on October 21, in just 40 days from September to the 10th of this month, the Hong Kong Center for Health Protection received a notification from the medical authorities that 79 people were infected with invasive streptococcus b, of which 7 died and 38 were still under observation in the hospital. Lam Wai Sun, vice president of the Hong Kong Medical Association of Infectious and Infectious Diseases, said on the 21st that this is obviously a concentrated outbreak, which is believed to be related to people's contact with or eating freshwater fish.
Lin Weixun said that the streptococcus b involved is a highly pathogenic strain, and young, well-resistant people will also be infected. A similar incident occurred in Singapore in 2012, when 300 people were infected, and Singapore medical institutions later found that the infection was related to freshwater fish and banned people from eating raw fish.
Lin Weixun also called on the public to develop the habit of not touching any live animals with their bare hands in the street market, wearing gloves when handling fish, and properly handling wounds if there is a hand injury. If the wound becomes inflamed or feverish, seek medical attention as soon as possible and give a history of exposure with the doctor. (Overseas Network Wu Qian)
