Gibbons are named because of their particularly long arms, they have 4 genera and 16 species, today I want to introduce the white-browed gibbon, it is in addition to the arm length, the word "white eyebrow" is the key: there are obvious white lines on the forehead, like white eyebrows, and the hairy bushes at its penis are also white. Such a special white-browed gibbon, there are only more than 600 in China at present, which belongs to the national first-class protected animal.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > data on white-browed gibbons</h1>

With a body length of 45–65 cm and a weight of 10–14 kg, the white-browed gibbon is the larger of the gibbons, with a small head, a short, flat face, and no tail. The biggest features of the white-browed gibbon are two: one is the white stripe on the forehead, which looks like a white eyebrow, which is also named; the second is that the male body color is mostly black, but the hairs at the penis are white, which is very obvious!
1. Morphological characteristics
The body color of the male is mostly dark brown, similar to the white-cheeked gibbon, but its cheeks are not white, only the pubic hair and forehead are white; the female body hair is mostly gray or grayish yellow, the eyebrows are more light, the face is broad and short gray hair, and the facial area is more light and white.
2. Life habits
The population of white-browed gibbons is "monogamous", usually 3-5 for a group, composed of adult females, males, and cubs, who live in trees almost all year round, do not build nests, foraging, sleeping, resting in trees, and rarely go to the ground.
When the white-browed gibbon walks, its body is half straight, swinging and swinging, its arms are bent on either side of its body, sometimes raised above its head; when it moves, it hangs itself on the branches with two long arms, and swings forward like a swing. They mainly feed on a variety of wild fruits, fresh branches and young leaves, flower buds, etc., and also eat insects and small birds.
3. The cries of white-browed gibbons
Many people know the white-browed gibbon as its chirping, which basically makes a loud cry every morning, and its call is loud and can be heard for miles, and the sound is like "hu-ke, hu-ke". It is precisely because the white-browed gibbon has a special call and a loud call, so it is also called a hu ape, or hulok ape.
4. Living environment
The white-browed gibbon is mainly found in western Yunnan, China, outside of China in Myanmar, Bangladesh and Assam in northeastern India, and inhabits the tropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forests of South Asia. White-browed gibbons mate in heat from September to February of the following year, females average 3 years a litter, 1 litter per litter, the gestation period is 7-7.5 months, the life expectancy is generally 20-30 years, 7-8 years old sexual maturity.
5. Endangered and rare animals in China
As a result of large-scale deforestation, the living environment of the white-browed gibbons has been destroyed, and coupled with human hunting, their numbers have decreased dramatically. So far, there are only about 680 white-browed gibbons left in China, which is a national protected animal in China; globally, Bangladesh is estimated to have about 200-280 animals, and the total population in northeast India is about 2600.
