First, the cause of sexual behavior problems
In real life, the causes of sexual behavior problems can be divided into three main categories:
Physiological factors, such as congenital, genetic defects or acquired diseases;
Psychological factors, such as misconceptions about sex or bad sexual experiences;
Social and environmental factors, such as poor interpersonal relationships, stimulation of life events, and restrictions on customs and habits.
Classification of sexual behavior problems in counseling psychology
Sexual behavior problems are clinically diverse.
In the past, various problems were classified according to the principles of sickness.
However, counseling psychology cannot copy the classification of psychiatry for the practical operation of psychological counseling, because many patients with severe sexual perversion have gone beyond the scope of psychological counseling.
In addition, the academic concept, treatment and clinical operation of counseling psychology for helpers of general behavioral problems are not exactly the same as psychiatry, such as the treatment of homosexuals, psychiatry has excluded it from mental illness, does not consider it to be abnormal psychology and behavior, but counseling psychology still considers it to be a state of psychological unhealth, and psychological help must be given to such helpers.
To this end, according to the interpretation of sexual behavior in Cognitive Psychology and the severity of sexual behavior problems, we can classify sexual psychological problems as follows:
(I) Cognitive psychology believes that human sexual behavior, for an individual with full responsibility, is a complete "planning" process, which includes eight stages:
Sexual role cognition
Sexual desire arises
Sexual motivation is formed
Sex object selection
Sexual exertion
The procedure of sexual intercourse
Sexual intercourse experience
Liability for sexual consequences
In terms of clinical symptoms, in the above eight stages, as long as there are setbacks, different degrees of sexual and psychological problems will be formed. According to this, we divide psychosexual problems into eight categories:
Sexual role issues
Sexual desire problems
Sexual motivation problems
Sex object selection issues
Sexual capacity issues
Problems with sexual intercourse manipulation
(2) The severity of each type of behavioral problem can be divided into the following three types according to self-experience, behavioral performance, impact on life and work, and degree of impact on social functioning:
1. Sexual disorders.
It's a mild psychosexuality – a behavioral problem. It is an occasional, deviated from normal sexual emotional experience and is of short duration.
Because it is a slight deviation, the learning, life and social functions of all individuals are basically normal.
The emergence of such experiences, affected by time, environment and personal mood, the patient clearly knows the cause of such emotions, and can automatically restrain and adjust, with the change of the above conditions, can be relieved by themselves.
Such sexual psychological deviations include short-lived "same-sex sexual tendencies", "fetish tendencies", "heterosexual aversion tendencies", "occasional impotence" and so on.
2. Sexual behavior disorder.
At one point in the sexual process, various factors cause persistent deviations or abnormalities in sexual behavior, and can affect other stages of behavior.
Due to the long-term inability to relieve itself, the patient is in an anxious state, and even has a fear of sexual behavior, thus losing self-confidence and interest in sexual behavior, affecting the couple's feelings and daily work and life.
3. Sexual perversion
This is a group of sexual disorders based on personality perversion.
Also known as "sexual personality perversion." ”
It can happen at any point in the sex.
Disorders often replace the entire sexual process, and patients, although self-aware, are unable to extricate themselves due to personality defects and weak willpower.
In this category, it must be noted that when we determine whether a person has a sexually perverted personality, we must find in his past history the early experiences related to the current problem.
Because, the personality itself is formed in a long period of ontology and growth.
(3) According to the above stage types of sexual behavior, and according to the severity of a certain stage of psychological-behavioral problems, we can intersect these two dimensions to constitute a cross-classification of sexual psychology-behavior.
