A brief introduction to the understanding of long-range pigeons
What is a long-distance pigeon is, it should be a pigeon that returns home from races over 1,000 kilometers.
When I first started raising pigeons, I didn't agree with the fancier's statement about the distinction between long and short distance pigeons, and I also achieved good results in races of about 1,000 kilometers. After calmly analyzing, the pigeons that can achieve high results are invariably home the next day. I belong to the closed shed, the pigeons are not viable in the wild, if the pigeons do not return to the nest within 48 hours, it is hopeless and heavy losses. In the autumn of 12 years, 19 pigeons of the year were raced, and only 6 pigeons were returned. In order to reduce the loss of pigeons, we began to pay attention to the long-distance pigeons, and through the attention, it was found that the long-distance pigeons should have the following characteristics.
1. Survivability in the wild. Through observation, all fanciers who have flown well in long-distance racing basically have one thing in common, that is, extensive management, and some even open-top breeding, and their pigeons stand on the line, play in the wild, and drink water in rivers and ponds is commonplace. And these habits are exactly what is necessary for long-range pigeons.
Second, many times to compete, repeatedly homecoming. The long-range pigeons have experienced several races to varying degrees, have a wealth of flying experience, are very adaptable to different weather and different wind directions, and are between the ages of 1 and 3 years.
3. The pedigree of the long-range pigeon. The previous generation of long-distance pigeons must have experience in flying long-distance racing. Pigeons bred in this bloodline are intelligent and alert, intellectually superior, and born with the ability to avoid predators and human injuries, which is especially important in long-distance races.
Fourth, strong disease resistance. Due to the extensive breeding of long-range pigeons, they can fully integrate with nature and adapt to the environment strongly, so as to enhance autoantibodies and resist viruses. This will be an absolute advantage that cannot be compared with the average pigeon.
Fifth, the superiority of the location of the pigeon loft. I have visited many pigeon lofts with excellent remote results, and found to varying degrees that in the pigeon sheds within a radius of about one kilometer, there are Yangtze Rivers or ponds, high-voltage wire frame networks, open fields, etc., which is also a natural advantage enjoyed by remote pigeons.
