On October 21, Tianjin Zoo introduced eight flamingos for the first time. This red wader from the tropical region of South America is of great ornamental value due to its red feathers. At present, these eight red ibises have settled in the zoo bird hall and are officially exhibited to the public.
The flamingo is a bird found on the coast and marshes of northeastern South America, with bright red plumage, a slender, curved beak, a high-pitched call, and a penchant foraging in groups, spending the night in trees and feeding on small animals such as crabs, mollusks, small fish, frogs, and insects. According to the breeders, the eight red ibises introduced this time are all young birds about one year old, and some of the young birds have not yet shed their brown chick feathers, and when they grow to two years old, they will all be replaced with fiery red feathers.
